Welcome to the Christmas edition of Menu Plan Monday! Yesterday I spent some time looking through my Reiman magazines (Simple & Delicious/Healthy Cooking) and some internet sites trying to narrow down our Christmas menu. I love looking at all the pictures, I just wished I loved to cook as well :). We always have Christmas dinner at our house though because I just love staying home that day and not rushing anywhere. This year we have friends and family coming and while it might not be the best meal it will hopefully be edible….that’s the goal anyway 🙂 I try to pick recipes that are pretty straight forward with no complications and I of course will also make some good old faithful recipes as well.
Up until now we have not had any Christmas Eve menu traditions. I wanted to change that this year. I love traditions and I was looking for something fun and easy for the kids that they could look forward to year after year. I found the recipe below while looking through the Family Fun site. I absolutely heart that magazine. So great! What about you? Do you serve a specific meal each year on Christmas Eve?
A new family favorite dessert in our house is White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake Bars from Kraft Canada (I’m sorry if the link doesn’t work, they have been having trouble with their website). I made this recipe twice last week and it was so easy and delicious!
A recipe we make every year, as treats for our guests and neighbors, is Peppermint Bark. This is such a simple but festive recipe and takes no time at all to whip up a batch. I’ve yet to mess it up and trust me that is saying alot!
Reminder: if you are including a Family Favorite recipe in your menu plan this week please feel free to include the name of the recipe in brackets beside your name in Mr. Linky. Just please please remember to leave spaces. Thanks!
So onto my menu this week:
Monday: Chicken, Spinach & Tomatoes served with spaghetti
Tuesday: Fajitas
Wednesday:Christmas Eve ~ Christmas Tree Pizzas (how fun is that!) served with birthday jello for Jesus (I wanted an easy light dessert 🙂 )
Thursday: Christmas!
Breakfast: Wakeup Casserole * Family Favorite *
Dinner:
We cook the turkey unstuffed so my son who is gluten free can enjoy it as well.
Love it! Can be prepared the day before.
One of our favorite recipes, so yummy! I also make these up the day before.
Love that I can put it into the slow cooker and forget about it. Just some occasional basting is all that is needed.
A new recipe for me but I like that it’s a little different than the usual apple pie.
Friday: Creamy Turkey Soup and sandwiches
Saturday: Turkey Tetrazzini
Simple Supper Sunday
WHAT’S ON YOUR MENU THIS WEEK?

Those Christmas tree pizzas are adorable. We do a “Happy Birthday Jesus” cake on Christmas Eve. I’ve been wanting to try the cheesecake bars, so now I guess I’ll have to take the plunge! Have a lovely Christmas – and thanks, as always, for hosting!

Short week, but a very Merry Christmas to you and yours!

I love those pizza’s – too darned cute! We love turkey teterazzini and I haven’t made it in forever. I may have to make some chicken breasts next week just so we can have that. Hmmm, yum!
Merry Christmas, Kiy

I’m totally eying up that recipe for Peppermint Bark…I can’t believe how easy it is! And the Sausage Stuffing sounds amazing…I have to admit I’m totally partial to Stove-Top 😉

That peppermint bark sounds so yummy… I may grab some of the baker’s chocolate when I am at Wal-Mart for the last few things I need for Thursday.

Oh, I like the look of that creamy turkey soup. We never have much for leftovers but I try to save some for soup. Have a wonderful Christmas and eat till you drop.

We’ll be having a pretty traditional Minnesota Christmas Ee dinner of Swedish Meatballs.

I made that white choc. dessert for my party and it was a hit. Everyone loved it. Mine was not as pretty as the picture Kraft showed but it was so good it did not matter.

Your Christmas Pizzas will be a big hit with the kids.

I love MPM—I think most of my new recipes this week were found via recent MPM posts! Merry Christmas everybody.

The cheesecake bars look and sound scrumptious and that sausage recipe is very much like how I make mine but I use homemade turkey sausage. Have a safe and happy holiday!

I remember you posting about the Golden Honey Pan-Rolls a while ago, I never did get around to making them. Since I have to take rolls to a family get-together this week, I am hoping to try this recipe!
We don’t have any Christmas Eve or even Christmas Day traditions food-wise. We still spend Christmas with our families, although we alternate so we don’t have two large meals in one day.
I want to make a special Christmas breakfast, but haven’t decided what yet. It won’t be too big, since we’ll want to have plenty of room for lunch.

I am so glad I’m not the only one who cooks a turkey on both Thanksgiving and Christmas. LOL I may even get the nerve up to try the Apple & Herb…sounds DELICIOUS!

My husband’s family introduced me to a steak & lobster tradition on Christmas Eve. But I am sure you will enjoy your pizza 🙂 My family used to have turkey on the 24th and on the 25th. boring
Rita says
We recently started doing appetizers on Christmas Eve and I really like it. Everyone can snack around while playing with their new gifts, so it is laid back and fun. Much easier than trying to round everyone up at the same time to have a sit down dinner! People can come and go as they need to and still enjoy some treats.

I’m so happy I found you! I have been doing Monday menus for the last month on my own. I am actually taking the week off from cooking normal meals because I froze meals all month long to eat this week. Yay! 🙂 Merry Christmas, everyone!
Rebecca says
We celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve… we do serve the same meal every year… at least, we always make roasted chicken with cream sauce (my mother-in-law’s recipe), and we always have rice pudding for dessert. There is an almond hidden inside one of the dishes of the pudding for the kids in the family… whoever gets the almond gets a special gift.
Merry Christmas!
Meal Magic says
I am lucky that I do not have to cook a Christmas meal in that we spend the day with family. All I do is provide the desserts! But I do have a Christmas morning menu so that’s what’s at my blog this week. Merry Christmas all!
Debbie JordanKravitz says
We always have Fondue on Christmas Night (beef, chicken, shrimp, and cheese). It’s easy on me, since everyone basically cooks their own meal at the table. This is always a long meal, but it’s always fun, and it’s a great way to sit and enjoy each other’s company.
Have a very Merry Christmas, Laura!

No family tradition for New Years Eve. Actually this year my mom is taking the kids. So hubby and I may go out for Chinese food. It’s not very often we get time alone. Christmas day we will be at my parents with the kids. Don’t know what they are making.
