The following is a guest post with three really smart steps to living an intentional life, from regular contributor, Morgan from Morganize with Me. Sadly this will be Morgan’s last post with us. I so appreciate her writing for me for the past 5 years. I’ll be looking for someone else to write for me in the future, so if you are interested please let me know.
As we prepare to wrap up 2020, I think we can all agree that this has been an unforgettable year! With all of the challenges and new normals thrust upon us, life has felt if anything – unpredictable.
My hope, despite what you have walked through or are still walking through, is that you will continue to fine tune and define what’s most important to you. With a new year ahead, now is the perfect time to refocus and reset both your purposes and priorities.
Life doesn’t come with guarantees. However, what we can control is how we pivot, plan, and press on in life. Living an intentional life means you know the direction you want to go in life and the steps you need to take in order to get there. As we look forward lets commit to intentional living.
Living an Intentional Life
Pivoting creates movement.
This year has revealed how important it is to pivot. When you are able to roll with things and make adjustments (when and where required) there is a greater chance you’ll be able to stay afloat. Choosing to pivot or adjust course helps you to maintain both your momentum and motivation!
Planning creates vision.
When you fail to plan you plan to fail…or so it’s been said. But I think it’s true! If you don’t know the vision or mission you have for your life, then life can often happen to you instead of through you. With 2021 laid out before you, what do you want to plan to do? What’s on your bucket list? What are the dreams you’ve let go of or stuffed deep down? While you may not have every opportunity available to you or certain obstacles may be in your way, you can still lay out a plan and a direction for the 12 months ahead. Time is a gift, open it and use it!
Pressing in creates tenacity.
Whatever you are juggling now, by choice or not, you still have the opportunity to adjust your attitude and your effort. This is where the choice lies. An attitude of gratitude is everything and while it’s not necessarily easy or always natural, it can make a world of difference and also cause a ripple effect. And then furthermore when you choose to press in to what’s yours to do and do it well, it will help you to feel increasingly purposeful.
Time is an interesting thing. We all have the same amount and we all universally wrestle with how to use our time well. Intentional living looks like deciding well with the time we have. Each of our days are numbered and 2020 has reminded us of the fragility of life.
I’m a glass half full kind of person, yet this year has worn me down. I’m writing these words just as much for you as I am for myself. I am in this too and we all need encouragement. Through all of the challenges that this year has brought, I’ve realized time and time again that a heartbeat of intentionality can make a world of difference.
Encouraging you to live an intentional life today and every day!
