I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You cannot truly get organized without first letting go of the clutter in your home. It just doesn’t work. Sure you can buy some baskets and bins to throw stuff into or even buy a bigger home to store all your things but ultimately the clutter chaos will remain. And it will continue to remain in your home until you decide to curb your clutter!
My organized home can almost entirely be contributed to the regular ongoing decluttering I do. And the best news is, decluttering doesn’t require you to have any special tools or skills. Absolutely anyone can do it at any time, whoot!
Here are all my purge piles from 2019.
You can always, always find something to declutter in your home.
Let’s take a walk down memory lane of my purge piles from over the years.
I share these with you to encourage you to start or continue on your own decluttering journey. Because that’s exactly what it is. A journey.
It’s not a once and done event.
Since life doesn’t stay still it’s important that all the stuff we use to do life with matches up with where we are today. As our children grow and change activities, as we change sizes and styles ourselves or as our routines and habits change, we need to say goodbye to the old in order to welcome the new. And the easiest way to do that is regularly and consistently. Not just once a year. It’s all about assessing the things in our homes every day for whether or not they are still making us happy and serving a purpose. If they aren’t why keep it? As you find something to let go of, drop it into a donation box you have set up in your home for this purpose. Then take it to a local thrift store once it’s full.
And if you really want to motivate yourself, take a picture of all your own purge piles. It really helps!
Be tough on yourself when assessing your stuff, be ruthless. Know why you want to be organized and let that guide all your decisions. Visit some of my other posts listed below for further insights and help into my organizing PROCESS. You can do it! And it will be freeing, you’ll see. So what do you say? Are you in and ready to go curb your clutter in 2020?
