The following is a guest post about her Ikea Raskog cart makeup organization from regular contributor, Kristin at The Gold Project.
My makeup collection isn’t the biggest in the world. I actually use the same products every single day, so everything can fit on one section in my Ikea Raskog cart. I started using this cart for makeup last summer and I love it. It can be wheeled to different locations as needed or I can hide it in the closet if company comes over.
All of my makeup fits in the top section of this cart. I had it all organized until a few months ago. With all of the hustle and bustle of school, cheer, holidays, and visiting relatives I just got lazy with my organization. So, at the moment, this is what it looks like.
Notice the makeup and skincare samples floating around too? I have no idea how that happened.
So, when my makeup organization systems get completely unorganized, I wipe the slate clean and start again. I took everything out of the cart, cleaned it, and started to find a better organization system. I realized that these small dip bowls from Target were not doing the trick. They were not holding the amount of makeup items that I originally thought they would hold. So, they got moved to another organization project.
To clean the cart, I used a microfiber cloth and the Mrs. Meyer’s multi-surface spray in the peony scent.
I even took the time to clean off every makeup item. You would not believe the amount of dirt and makeup that gets caked up on the outside of your everyday products.
After the cleaning, I sorted my makeup products into categories and ended up with a nice pile of items to recycle. Most of the ones I had to get rid of were old and needed to be eliminated from my collection.
After everything was sectioned out and ready to go, I placed my cleaned organizers back in the top of my Raskog cart. This time around, I decided to only use the small rectangle MadeSmart organizers that I purchased from TJMaxx. These seem to work the best for my makeup collection and I can fit five of them in my cart nicely.
And, the last order of business was to place all of my makeup items back in the organizers. I divided them out by type; foundations, powders, eye products, eye shadows, and lip products.
It looks so much better. Now, let’s see if it stays that way.

How do you organize your makeup collection? I would love for everyone to share their best way to organize their makeup.
My name is Kristin and I am a middle school career education teacher by day and a mommy/wife/blogger by night. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two loving children. We recently made a life-changing move to Arkansas, so our new house is always under construction. I get excitement out of finding new creative, functional, and cute ways to organize things! I also enjoy writing and documenting life as it happens. So, I put these loves together and created The Gold Project. With the help of my husband, I am attempting to turn our house into a home. So, check out this special place of mine and take this journey with me!
