The following is a guest post about pool tote essentials from regular contributor, Yuni at Love Your Abode.
Summer time in the south means we have to find ways to escape the hot and humid weather. One of our favorite things to do is head to our neighborhood pool with the kids. We all get out of the house, they get super tired and everyone sleeps well at night. It’s a win win! However, my least favorite part of going to the pool is gathering and packing our things. Well, that’s on top of lathering up all 3 kids with sunscreen. On average, I realized it takes us almost 30 minutes to actually get out of the house once we’re ready. I decided to keep an organized pool tote ready to not only expedite our prep time but also to avoid running around looking for missing goggles and sunscreen at the last minute.
For our tote, I included the following items.
- Large Pool Tote (mine is collapsible) –> similar one HERE (affiliate link)
- 3 Towels
- Baby wipes
- Waterproof clear bag
- Sunscreen
- Aloe spray
- Chapstick
- Bandaids
- Antibiotic cream
- Nail Clippers (this is handy for those pesky hangnails that my kids seem to have)
- Goggles
- Insulated lunch box
- Pool keys
- Extra tote or waterproof bag
I rolled and placed our towels upright to provided maximum space inside. The lunch box was neatly placed right next to the towels.
I placed all the sunscreen, aloe vera spray and googles in our waterproof clear zip up bag. In case there’s any leakage, this protects the other contents in my tote from getting wet.
I used another cute summer clutch to include my wallet, phone and pool keys. The additional pockets contain bandaids, antibiotic cream, chapstick and nail clippers. I had enough space to even include my bluetooth speaker. Be sure to keep your phone in a sandwich sized zip lock bag. This serves as a cheap but effective way to keep your phone protected.
After placing everything in the pool tote, I still found additional space to add more things. I would probably add some extra dry snacks because my kids tend to eat like monsters when they take breaks from swimming. The straps are also great to clip on floaties if you have younger children.
My kids are old enough to help carry other items like pool toys so I make sure they are responsible for those items. How do you keep your pool/beach items organized? I would love to know. Hope you have a fun and safe summer!
