The following is a guest post with a reminder to schedule time for you from regular contributor, Kristin at The Gold Project.
When I was trying to come up with a topic for this month’s post, I had my planner sitting in front of me and it was open to the current week. I have an Erin Condren life planner and every day, I make a list of to dos that need to get accomplished before the next day rolls around.
You could say that my planner is an extension of myself. It goes everywhere with me and contains every single thing that I need to do on a daily basis. Plus, I use it as a memory keeper. I call it my brain on paper.
While I was thinking, I noticed that a lot of the items on my list didn’t include anything personal and self-fulfilling for me. They included things like, “Call the dentist to reschedule Kate’s appointment.” Those things are important, but parents (moms and dads) need to include things that help our mind and well-being as well. Life can get so chaotic at times that we can easily forget to think about ourselves.
So, what is the point of today’s post?
It is to remind you that you are important too. So, if you have to write, “read for 30 minutes,” on your daily to do list in order to make sure you get some time in a given day, then do it. I have a 8-year-old and a 4-year-old, so I understand that sometimes it isn’t possible to squeeze thirty whole minutes alone for a leisure activity, but even if it is five or ten minutes, it can help.
I have included some things below that I like to schedule and do for myself to feel rejuvenated and focused.
Read for 30 minutes before bed.
Organize a drawer or shelf.
Decorate my planner.
Take a nice hot bath or shower.
Take a short walk.
Go grocery shopping by myself.
What are some personal activities that you include in your schedule?
My name is Kristin and I am a middle school career education teacher by day and a mommy/wife/blogger by night. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two loving children. We recently made a life-changing move to Arkansas, so our new house is always under construction. I get excitement out of finding new creative, functional, and cute ways to organize things! I also enjoy writing and documenting life as it happens. So, I put these loves together and created The Gold Project. With the help of my husband, I am attempting to turn our house into a home. So, check out this special place of mine and take this journey with me!

Reading is a must daily for me! I like to get it in while I drink my smoothie in the morning or right before bed!

Good idea to schedule time to read. I have too many books that I’ve needed to read since a couple years ago. No more books til these are read! I’d think going through photos on my computer would be good. I have so many. And find time to make a book from Shutterfly. then I can take photos off my computer.
And read with my feet up.

Good advice. I am checking out the Erin Condren planners. I, too, say my planner is my brain and am always searching for the just right one.
