My favorite organizing products are ones that can be used in a multiple of ways. As my systems change I want to be able to rework the products I already own which is why products with flexibility make me drool and twirl and clap my hands. Or all three at once when the passion really kicks it into overdrive. Sorry that’s a visual you probably didn’t need.
So want to know what is one of the most versatile organizing products out there? The over the door pocket organizer of course because hello? Pockets! And lots of them! Not only that but they are a wonderful way to take advantage of vertical space that otherwise might just be wasted. They aren’t just for shoes anymore!
So how thrilled was I to find the Simply Stashed and Gear Pocket (sorry no longer available)…because hello? Pockets!
Ready for this? Meet my new office supply catch all:
Isn’t that pretty! This one is called the Mini Stash and I’ve got it hooked on the inside of my office armoire. The pockets are of various sizes to hold all sorts of goodies.
I love smiley faces 🙂
Features of The Mini Stash:
- 19″ wide x 36″ long – perfect for smaller spaces
- Eco-friendly fabrics are coated for easy cleaning
- Crystal clear pockets for easy content viewing
- Built-in sleeves allow you to label pocket contents
- Versatile hanging options (use a decorative ribbon or hang on door)
- Hanging hardware included
There are so many ways to use these types of shoe organizers for storage as demonstrated in these terrific posts as can be seen in my Shoe Organizer Pinterest Board.
The possibilities are endless! What makes the Simply Stashed line so great is that the products are not just functional but pretty too so you don’t just have to hide them behind doors.
Do you use a pocket organizer in your house for storage?

Laura! I love these ideas! I just wanted to mention..have you thought about doing an ‘organziational project’ linky party? I know that linky parties can take a lot of time for the host blog…but once a month would be great! I am all over the blogland looking at organizational ideas, but it would be great to have links all in one place! There isn’t an organizational project party that I have seen…and you would be the obvious choice to host such a party!! Just a thought!!
Have a great Monday! Angie xo

I also used one to organize stuff to bring to day camp (i.e. bug spray, sun screen, cards when it rained, etc.)

We use one on the back of our office door for all of our electronics cords storage, i.e, cameras, cell phones, MP3 players, electronic organizers, etc. I also tuck the manuals in the same slot if at all possible. It’s a great help.

I did hair accessories as well with one from the Dollar Tree.

We used something very similar in the van. Held the children’s CD players, ear phones, tapes, handheld games, drink bottles, etc……..hung on the back of one of the bucket-type seats. Now, ours didn’t last, because it was an inexpensive type. This one’s much prettier than mine was, and looks like it’s much more durable!
Thanks for the great tip! Marie-Claire

I have one inside my linen closet, originally designed for shoes but I filled it with all my cleaning supplies. It’s great because I can clearly see what I have (and what I need to buy more of) and it’s a snap when I need one product to clean with!

I’m currently organizing the garage and have installed a pegboard, but I’m thinking I could use one of these for many other things down there. Painting supplies, sandpaper, etc. Just beginning to get my thoughts together. Great ideas!

I have a “plain ol’ over the door shoe storage” over some hookes in my classroom that serve as the student’s extra storage for their supplies (glue sticks, pencils, scissors, etc). Each child has their own pocket. It works great but these are just so much cuter! and I love that they have the pockets for lables – it beats me trying to keep an index card attached to each pocket with a paper clip!
Julie Lynch says
I, too have use clear over the door shoe organizers organizing everything under the sun-office supplies (smaller items like box of brads, sm. packages of labels, box of paper clips, tape, regular sized stapler, etc.) I like that the one you described is smaller overall. For a classroom situation as Nicole described where names change yearly, might I suggest the name on half an index card and use clear shelf/contact paper cut about half an inch larger placed over the card and attach to pocket-see-thru and can be easily removed at the end of the year.

Julie;
The Simply Stashed Organizers come with a little insert to label each pocket and can be changed each year. This way you don’t have to tape or attach anything to the PVC

@Angie and others – Coul you post some of your favorite organizing websites/blog – other than orgjunkie, of course 😉 – I’m just getting started on home organizing, and I want to expand my knowledge base!

I use a traditional one to hold our winter hats, scarves, gloves, sunglasses, swim goggles and sun and bug spray.

I love pocket organizers! I have several. One for my shoes, another on my closet door for personal care stuff (I live with my mom & try to keep my things seperate), and a few small ones. I use a small one on the inside of my closet to organize my jewelry. I have two small ones for my scrapbook area, and put all sorts of small stuff in them. They’re great! 🙂

Oh!!! I NEVER thought of that for the door to the pantry in our RV! We just bought an old (22 yrs old!) RV & I’ve been trying to maximize storage space. My hubby converted a long closet into adjustable shelving and we were trying to come up with something to hook to the door, but it had a mirror on the outside. A pocket organizer will be perfect!!! Now to run & get my measuring tape!! Thanks!

We use one of these that has mesh pockets in our linen closet to store toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, bandaids, ace bandages, tweezers, Qtips, combs, and other things up high out of little hands reach!
Crista says
We use one on our closet door for hubby’s underwear and socks. All his shirts and pants get hung up and this way all his stuff is in one place. Makes it easy for him in the mornings when he’s walking around with his eyes half open, lol.

Very cool. My children could definitely benefit from this. Well, actually every room in the house should have one. You’re right, it’s great when one can re-purpose organizing items for another use. Love it!

I love the variety stash one. That’s perfect for everyone where there are always little knick knacks that need somewhere to go. Like the post and congrats on getting POCKETS! LOL in your store.

Thanks for the link! I could not LIVE with out my little over the door for my craft supplies–it eliminates my kids having to open drawers or tops!
But my new favorite way to use it is to fold it up in my suitcase and hang it over the door of my hotel room when on vacation! Oh my goodness–it’s like adding another whole room to your hotel! You can store every single bit of toiletries most of your kids’s socks and underwear, even your shoes if you want! LOVE IT.

Ah! Thanks for this! I was considering buying those very same pocket organizers on sale at Savvy Source today, and was looking around to see if there were other similar ones out there. Seeing yours up close sealed the deal, I just got 4! Bring on the organization! I’m going to put one in each of my girls rooms, one in the hall closet, and one in the kitchen. Thanks for the inspiration!

Couldn’t find this product anywhere…or actually couldn’t find anything remotely close to the quality and usefulness of anything else similar. Do you still sell these?
