I had a wonderful birthday last week. Thank you so much for all your awesome birthday wishes, it meant a lot to me. I actually had two parties and the lovely cake seen above was made for me by this terrific lady for one of the parties. Isn’t it pretty? It was absolutely heavenly too, oh my!! You are in luck because I just saw on her blog that she posted the recipe link for both the cake and the frosting so be sure to check it out. The cake followed an amazing meal of BBQ chicken drenched in a secret sauce that was also to die for. My girlfriend and her hubbie won’t give up the recipe but I’m working on it!!
I’ve got some excellent free menu planning resources for you this week:
Printable Menu Plan for entertaining ~ @ Executive Homemaker
Simplify Summer Meal Planning ~ @ Just Organize Yourself
Owl Grocery List ~ @ The Taste Zone
Menu Planners for Summertime ~ @ Heavenly Homemakers
Also to help streamline recipe searches a little bit for everyone I thought it might be a neat idea to host a recipe index link up. Later today I’ll be putting up a Mr. Linky and if you have a Family Favorites Recipe Index on your blog I hope you’ll come on back and share the link with us.
Here’s what we’ll be eating this week:
Monday: Hamburgers on the bbq
Tuesday: Garlic Pork Tenderloin (missed from last week)
Wednesday: Apple Chicken Quesadillas
Thursday: Leftover buffet
Friday: One Pot Spaghetti
Saturday: Scrambled Egg “Cupcakes”
Sunday: Church potluck ~ Flaky Buttermilk Biscuits
WHAT’S ON YOUR MENU THIS WEEK?
Menu Plan Monday guidelines and banner selections are here.

Aren’t hamburgers on the grill the best?! Except the other day, I used ground round (very lean), and they were waaaayyy too dry and shrunk up like mini-burgers 🙂

Hi, I’m new! Forgot to say this in the Mr. Linky part!
Hope you all enjoy the no grain pizza crust recipe. Our family of five has come to prefer this crust over even homemade wheat crust. It is so delicious and the herbs/parm cheese in the crust totally MAKE the flavor!

I’m so thrilled you’re still here doing this, Laura! One of these years, I’m really going to get this menu-planning thing down as a real, can’t-live-without habit. Really, I am. And in the meantime, thank you for the continuing inspiration!!!
Heather says
Love the scrambled egg cupcakes. My kiddo always gives me trouble with breakfast unless it’s a doughnut or bowl of cereal. But, I’m sure he’ll like the idea of eating ‘cupcakes’ for breakfast.
Taylor says
I’ve been meal planning weekly for a while because I’ve found it’s less chaotic and less expensive. I’m excited to find a community who does it too!

Maranda says
My son did our meal plan this week! He did such a good job I’m thinking of making it a regular duty! 😀
Heidi says
OH NO!!!! Why did you have to post that Strawberry Cake picture??!
I indulged in strawberry shortcake FOUR times last week, and was resolved to lower that count this week. Now, my resolution is crumbling.
But perhaps I can justify it. The strawberries are organic and the whipped cream has a minimal amount of sugar. The biscuits are really the worst part and have no redemption, so I’ll just gloss over that.
Tiffany says
Your cake looks pretty. I’m impressed. Mine always turn out lopsided 🙂
Laura says
LOL, well mine definitely would too. Thankfully my girlfriend is an amazing baker! 🙂
Barbie says
Ok — so I’m totally new at this and feeling kind of like — well … did I do it right? What’s the Mister Linky’s Magical whatever … do I need to go there and register? I just linked up my post like Laura asked. I do need to get a button to put on my site … guidance anyone? Suggestions? Thanks! Off to peak at recipes.
Laura says
Hi Barbie, I just checked and you did it perfectly right. No need to use a banner if you’d rather not. Just a link back to this site is fine and you did just that.
Thanks so much for joining us and participating in MPM!
