The winner of the Corky Wall Organizer is Lisa from Frugal Mama of 3. Congratulations Lisa!!
For the rest of you that didn’t win, well don’t you worry because next week I’m doing another giveaway in conjunction with the Bloggy Giveaway’s Carnival (anyone else participating?) and I am so super excited about it. SUPER excited! But you’ll have to wait until next week to find out what I’m giving away unless of course you can guess what it is before then. I’ll even give you a couple of hints:
1. It is something that is VERY hard to find in stores or on the internet, at least in my experience.
2. I use one just like it every single day and it makes me very happy and organized.
3. It’s easy to use and I’d be completely lost without it.
3. I’ve shown a picture of it before on the blog.
Long time readers to my site will probably know this right away. I’m curious to see which of you smarty pants figures it out :)
I’ve got a doozy of a headache tonight but as soon as it clears I’ve got some fantastic craft/sewing links to share with you. Meet ya back here later!

I’ve had a blog crush on Aby Garvey from Creative Organizing for quite some time now so I can hardly contain my excitement to tell you how thrilled I am that she is my newest site sponsor! Aby is currently promoting her newest online workshop, the quick + simple clutter control workshop that is all about clearing surface clutter and keeping it away. If you hurry I believe you can still get in on the classes that start tomorrow.

For those in need of a more comprehensive overhaul Aby also runs another online workshop called Organizing 101 that offers more in depth organizing assistance focused on helping you get out of major organizational backlog.
I love Aby’s site and I totally loved her amazing book so I have no doubt her workshops will be as equally impressive as well.
Enjoy!

Just wanted to pass along a special that Family Travel Gear has going on right now. Save 20% off their ENTIRE inventory from October 19-25, 2008. Use the coupon code on anything in the store while supplies last. Sale includes ALL clearance items as well.
Coupon Code: HALWE08
Customers who have already created an account can save an additional 5% by simply logging into their account first before putting any items in their shopping cart.
I absolutely heart this company and have done two reviews for them. One for the Cabin Cuddler and the other for my very favorite travel bag, the Happy Traveler Family Gear Bag.

My daughter (11) collects a lot of stuff. She is particularly fond of notebooks and purses. I’m particularly fond of clutter free floors. So we compromise. If she can keep the stuff in her room off the floor in some kind of orderly fashion (not just piled 10 feet high on her desk) then she can keep it, otherwise it has to go. Meaning I will remove it from her room and give it away. I’m nice like that :)
This works for a number of reasons:
- It removes the power struggle between us and puts the onus on her to keep her space tidy.
- It allows her to be responsible for her own things and how they are displayed.
- It allows her to get creative coming up with fabulous organizing solutions.
Here’s one of them:

All on her own she came up with idea of using a skirt hanger to hang up all of her bags. Bags that are now no longer on the floor. I think it’s brilliant but then again I’m her mother and might be a little biased :)
I’m starting to think Org Junkie Junior might need her own little column here sometime soon, what do you think?

A month ago I was flipping through my issue of Real Simple magazine, The Family Issue, and came across a great picture of a beautifully organized closet. It was so lovely and colorful. Check it out, although the colors aren’t quite as vibrant here, sorry:

Anyway what really stood out to me though was the two organizers hanging on the closet door. I’d never seen those before and I was intrigued. I immediately looked up where to find them, got on the internet and tracked them down. They are from a Company called KangaRoom Storage and the organizers are called Corky Wall Organizers. Don’t they look fun! I love finding new organizing sites, it makes me all tingly inside.

They retail for $29.99 and come in three different colors. They also have one that is even bigger than this one. I know for a fact that my daughter would love one of these to hold all her odds and sodds. So many uses!
Also, with it being craft/sewing room month here on the blog I thought this other product I came across might appeal to all you knitters out there. I thought it looked very fancy dancy and would make all your knitting dreams come true :) It’s called the Knitter’s Notebook and it holds all different sized needles, including the impossible round ones! (listen I don’t really know a round needle from a square one, that’s just what the website told me okay) It also has room for your scissors and a zippered pouch for other small trinkets. The 3-ring binder system lets you hole punch your patterns and keep them neatly in the binding system.
I can’t figure it out but all of a sudden I have a terrible urge to take up knitting….hmmm.

So my friends I have spoken with the really nice powers that be over at KangaRoom Storage and they have offered to giveaway one of their Corky Wall Organizers to one lucky commenter. So please leave a comment below before next Tuesday, Oct 21st at 12:00 pm PST.
Don’t forget to check out their site to see all their other wonderful organizing products. You won’t be sorry you did!

I call these product highlights and not reviews because I haven’t actually tried these products out, they are just things that make me say “well now that’s a great idea!”.

I’ve recently discovered another blog I’m excited to share with you today. It’s called Work It, Mom! and it is an online community packed full of helpful information for working moms. This includes moms who work from the outside office, the home office, full time or just even 5 hours a week. I’m not kidding when I say there is something there for everyone.
Work It, Mom! launched a year ago and is growing quickly. Their mission is to combine the most helpful tips, to assist busy moms juggle work and family, with a great engaged community that is available for support. I’m pretty skeptical when it comes to these types of sites because the nature of them confuses me with information overload as I try to navigate my way around. I find Work It, Mom! to be well organized though and I appreciate that I didn’t get lost as I hopped from section to section.
I was thrilled when a couple of weeks ago founder and CEO, Nataly Kogan, emailed to ask if she could interview me for the site. How could I say no, I mean if someone is asking to know more about my crazy obsession then who am I to let them down :)
You can check out my interview here.

But wait, it doesn’t end there (okay I’m seriously starting to sound like an infomercial now). Work It, Mom! just launched a new collaborative blog called Problem Solved where readers can get their most pressing questions answered. Yours truly has been asked to contribute my two cents in response to some of the organizing questions, yay! I’m not sure when I’ll have my first post up there yet but I’ve already been given my first two questions so I’d better get a move on :)

Okay I’ve got a new fun game for us to play. My good friend Sarah owns the local thrift store so I spend quite a bit of time there. Quite often I find little gems at the store that were originally designed for one purpose but that could easily be adapted or used in so many other creative ways.
Starting today and then whenever I’ve got a new treasure to share with you I’m going to put up a picture of my find and show you some alternate ways to put it to good use. Then I’m opening the floor up to you and if you can think of any other clever uses then please share in the comments. What I’m hoping to accomplish is to inspire us to think a little more outside of the box than what we might be use to in order to come up with some clever organizing solutions that don’t cost a lot of money.
So my find for today’s “How Many Uses?” game is this lovely holder originally designed for spools of thread:

It’s an excellent little organizing device that I also thought would make a great jewelry holder:

or a fabulous holder for my daughter’s growing collection of head bands (this is only a few of them for demonstration purposes):

Not bad for a $1.99!
Now it’s your turn?
How many uses can we come up with?
