Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been getting emails from readers telling me about the latest issue of Consumer Reports Shop Smart magazine (March 2011) and that my blog was mentioned in it! I had no idea and it came as quite the surprise and honor. This is such a fantastic magazine!

So I want to give a big shout out to those lovely ladies that let me know and of course to Consumers Report for including me in their list of Great Blogs for Organizing Tips! Yay! I think I’ll break out my containers and have a party with them :)

And I can’t forget everyone else that comes around here day after day for my daily organizing dribble. Thanks everyone for supporting my habit, you are AWESOME!

When I got home from holidays I had some very special mail waiting for me. The first was this lovely tote bag I won in the Dog Days of Summer giveaway.

Midlife Mom from Home on the Range makes these beautiful tote bags with her daughter in law and it is just so cute. I love that it has pockets inside and opens to a flat bottom. I’m going to use my new bag as my church bag and can hardly wait to show it off! If you are interested in seeing her other designs she can be reached at thediz(AT)adelphia(DOT)net.

Next was the 2nd issue of Organize magazine! If you haven’t had a chance to check out this new magazine you really really must and I’m not just saying that because I’m mentioned in this 2nd issue either…lol. How exciting is that! Let me just say when my friend Kim emailed me while I was on holidays to let me know, I was just beyond myself with giddiness. Wow! What’s not to love about a whole magazine dedicated to organizing. It has SO many helpful articles and pictures. Maria of MeckMom.com (what a FANTASTIC blog full of organizing tips and downloads!) writes a terrific article in this issue about how to conquer four common back-to-school frustrations with simple solutions. Check it out!

Also while I was away I received my new Monk and Neagle CD. Wow, Boomama knows what she is talking about when it comes to music as this CD is sooooo good! Nothing like a great Christian CD to organize to! You can check out their site here and you can even listen for yourself to some of their songs here. You don’t want to miss Hallelujah Jesus!!

I also received in the mail my son’s very first personalized CD from Candace at Name Your Tune. She was so nice to send this to me and I’m just thrilled to watch how excited my son gets everytime he hears his name with every song…..it is hilarious! Thanks Candace!

So how about the Dancing of Stars announcement this morning of the new participants for this season. I just love love love this show and I’m doing the happy dance that both Jenny Garth and Marie Osmond will be on. Can’t wait, I’ve got September 24th marked on my calendar!!

Finally last night I made the Thai Chicken Fettucini recipe and it was delicious. LOVED it! How can anything with peanut butter not be good? Add it to your menu and enjoy!!

Can a freak also be rockin’?

Seven sweet and wonderful ladies think I ROCK!! Shannon, Debi, Kara, Sheryl, Susanne, Janeen and Carmen all awarded me the Rockin’ Girl Blogger award! They all wrote such nice things about me too and not one of them included the word FREAK! Imagine that….I totally have them fooled don’t I…lol. Thanks girls :)

So the thing we these awards, that honestly makes me break out in a cold sweat and go running for the hills, is that I am to pay it forward to 3 other well deserving ladies. Just pick 3? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Have you forgotten I’m the one with loyalty issues? Seriously I can’t cope. To be honest I almost didn’t do it but I didn’t want these seven lovely ladies to think I wasn’t appreciative because I really am, in the happiest of happy dances possible way.

So I’m playing along but remember I really do think you ALL rock just for coming back here time and time again!!

1. DeeDee from It Coulda’ Been Worse ~ DeeDee totally rocks because she makes me laugh out loud….all the time. If I’m having a bad day I know just where to go to feel 100% better.

2. Gibee from Kisses of Sunshine ~ Gibee is always encouraging and always willing to lend a hand PLUS anyone that can actually make me even want to consider baking must rock! Check out the Cupcake Contest she has going on!

3. Sandy from Reluctant Entertainers ~ Sandy is awesome and so inspiring as she shares her amazing passion for entertaining. I love how she challenges my thinking and makes me value entertaining as so much more than just a nice meal. I also love the pictures she shares.

What a surprise when I opened my email this morning to find this waiting for me:

Aren’t they lovely! My sweet friend Susanne, who is always thinking of others and leaves the most encouraging comments ever, sent this beautiful bouquet my way this morning. Talk about brightening a person’s day in an instant. I just love them and the best part is I don’t even need to water them! They also give me hope that spring is right around the corner even if it is June by the time all this snow melts!

Nothing like relaxing with a good organizing magazine!!!

I absolutely love getting packages in the mail…..which is why ebay became a problem for me but that is a whole different post….lol. Well I couldn’t believe my eyes when I opened up my mail today to find this most awesome gift from my sweet friend Kim of Kim’s Candor (formerly PeanutButterandJellyintheVCR).

Some of you might recognize that this is the same magazine that I gave away in the 30 Day Organizational Challenge. That magazine sat on my desk for over a month and I, get this, DIDN’T read it! Can you believe it…it was to be a gift afterall and although I was tempted to so very many times to take a peek I didn’t, no I did not! But often I wondered about all the glorious organizing pictures inside and what I was missing out on…..and now I don’t have to wonder anymore because I have my very own and I’m so very excited…is that cool or what!

If you are lucky and if I can still make out the words after I wipe up all the drool I might even share a tip or two with you so definitely stay tuned for that!

Thanks Kim for the care package, you really are very sweet!

Now I hate to gush about my special package without letting you know how you can receive a special package of your very own. 5 minutes for mom is having a contest and the prize is a beautiful piece of jewellry from Ali’s Originals! Who wouldn’t be excited to receive something like that in the mail!!

Feeling blessed….

I am feeling so blessed by all of your warm and positive comments. This blog started as a way for me to poke fun at my “habit” and give me a creative outlet. Well imagine my surprise to read all of your comments and realize that I just may be helping someone out along the way. We have this thing we do in my house at dinnertime some nights where each person has to say something nice they did for someone else during the day. How exciting for me to say “well I inspired someone to organize today”! Thank you for that. I’m going to continue to share organizing tips and things that work for me AND at the same time you can bet I’ll continue to make fun of myself as well!

Warpie is one such person I’ve met here in blogland that is feeling inspired and I would like to offer her and others wanting to get organized some encouragement. Start by making a list of all the areas you want to tackle but be specific. Do not say to yourself “today I’m going to organzie the kitchen”. Too broad and overwhelming, even for me. It is better to do one area at a time. For instance, you can say “today I’m going to tackle the kitchen drawers” or “today I’m going to tackle the kitchen pantry”. Don’t let yourselves get overwhelmed. If you do find yourself getting overwhelmed, pull back and make the project smaller yet. As you complete each project and you start to see your progress you will feel a sense of accomplishment that will keep you going. This is why I always tell people to start and finish one project before moving on to the next. It has been my experience that people are really motivated once they start seeing results.

In the next couple of days I hope (bear with me I have a teething baby in the house!) to introduce to you an acronym that I created to help you remember the steps to the organizing process.

Until then, if you haven’t already visited the Tour of Homes over at BooMama’s site than you really must. I have thoroughly enjoyed perusing them although I still have many to look at yet. What a terrific idea!
