The following is a guest post on a yummy hot chocolate bar from regular contributor, Yuni at Love Your Abode.
Hey everyone! I hope you’re enjoying the holiday season. Have you been able to slow down and enjoy this special time of year? It’s so easy to get caught up in the stress and pressure of choosing the perfect gift, keeping up with all of our kids’ school events and filling the rest of our to-do list as the year closes out. I know I need the reminder to slow down, sit with people and enjoy one another’s presence.
Our house is currently decked and the weather has started to get colder here in Georgia. This means my children start to beg me for hot chocolate every single day. I don’t blame them. It’s the perfect warm treat on a cold, brisk day and it’s so delicious with the “special” toppings I like to whip out specifically during this time of year. It’s also a great excuse to sit and enjoy something warm with the ones you love.
Last year, I went all out and created a hot cocoa station. This year, I decided to go the simple route and create an organized tray with all of the same yummy ingredients. It’s not only perfect for my kids but for friends when they come over. It’s a big hit with my friends’ kids and a total sweet treat for the little ones to enjoy together.
I think my large woven tray works perfectly to corral everything together in one place including the mugs. I included my homemade salted caramel, candy canes, stirring sticks and marshmallows. You guys, the salted caramel is just so good and we love stirring some in our hot cocoa, eating it over ice cream or just plain licking it straight from the jar. #dontjudge I usually make homemade marshmallows this time of year too but haven’t gotten around to it so we have been enjoying the ones from the store.
I use trays all around our home to keep things looking pretty and organized.
The hot chocolate tray can be such a simple and hospitable way to welcome your guests.
I’m planning on keeping my hot chocolate tray next to the kettle in the kitchen so it’s easily accessible for everyone. It adds a nice Christmas touch to my kitchen too don’t you think? If you’re not a hot chocolate fan, you can create this with coffee or tea as well. But come on, who doesn’t like hot chocolate!? Try creating a hot chocolate bar for your next gathering. I bet it’ll be a hit. Hope you have the most wonderful holiday season with your loved ones!
