Hi everyone! Happy Independence Day to all of you in the US! Enjoy your day! Here in Canada we celebrated Canada’s 149th birthday last Friday and also enjoyed a three day weekend. It was a nice relaxing one for us AND I also got a lot of organizing done!! I’m on fire right now, no where in my house is safe lol. I am so proud of myself too because I managed to part with something very special to me, my Taste of Home cookbooks! They were taking up so much space and I haven’t used them in years now that I eat a Paleo diet. I kept them in a cabinet in my dining room but I need that space for other things.
These magazines taught me how to cook 10 years ago and I used them all the time for menu planning at the beginning. The recipes made me shine because they were straightforward to follow, no fancy ingredients, quick and easy. I can’t recommend them more. But now it’s time to move on and use this space for things that I’m actually using. Here’s the pile I parted with. So long my cookbook friends, thanks for being so good to me!
Is anyone else a fan of Taste of Home?
So here’s what we’ll be eating this week. What’s on your menu?
My Weekly Menu Plan:
Monday: Ultimate Roast Beef & Swiss Wraps and for me Prosciutto Egg Cups
Tuesday: Herb & Garlic Chicken Drumsticks served with spinach salad
Wednesday: Slow Cooker Kalua Pork Tacos
Thursday: Leftover buffet
Friday: Pizza Party Friday Night! and for me Hawaiian Tuna Burgers
Saturday: Paleo Zucchini Noodles with Shrimp and Bacon (without butter and Parmesan cheese)

Taste of Home also helped me learn how to cook — especially vegetables that my family of origin never served.

Good for you – why is it such a challenge to get rid of stuff like that?? I recently threw away (recycled) all of my scrapbook magazines – they were years old, and even if I find time to scrapbook, my style has evolved beyond the layouts in those magazines.

So hard but so worth it now that I’m using that space for other things 🙂

I love Taste of Home magazines and Simple & Delicious. I am finally having to part with them too, and not renew my subscriptions. With 2 kids going to be in college, we have to try and save money everywhere we can.

Yes I hear ya, I stopped buying them about two years ago but I’m just letting them go now because I haven’t needed that space for anything else until now 🙂

I am sad for your collection. Can our send them to me?
Laura Wittmann says
They already went to my local thrift store so someone will be able to enjoy them again 🙂

Good job on letting go of the magazines. It’s always hard letting go of stuff like that. Thankfully so much of that content is available online now if it’s needed. Have a great week!
