I love it when a blog friend comes out with a new book but I especially love it when it’s one that I know you are going to love. Jessica is a long time blogger and runs the sites Life as Mom and Good Cheap Eats. She’s also the mom of 6 kids!! This is her fourth book including the Not Your Mother’s Make-Ahead & Freeze Cookbook* which I also thought was great.
This time Jessica has compiled 200 recipes that can all be made for dinner in 30 minutes or less!* Um yes please, sign me up! Jessica is known for her quick and easy recipes and this new cookbook delivers that while using simple minimally processed ingredients. And it only just released yesterday!!!
Jessica’s publisher sent me a copy of the cookbook* so I could check it out and I love how it is laid out. Not only are the recipes designed to be quick to prepare and kid-friendly but as well they are grouped in pairs to give you a complete meal. So with each main dish there is an accompanying side dish. I also love how the recipes clearly indicate under the title whether the dish is meatless, gluten-free- dairy-free, make-ahead and/or freezer friendly.
As most of you know I don’t love to cook, I want to get in and out of the kitchen fast. Many of you are busy with kids doing after school activities so dinners can’t take long to get on the table. That’s why menu planning is so important. It sets you up for a successful less stressful week especially if the recipes you choose are quick and easy to prepare. I really do think people make it way more complicated than it needs to be.
Jessica knows this too which is why, to go along with her new cookbook, she has created a free 4 week menu plan for you using recipes from her book. This free plan provides you with 4 weeks of meal plans, 5 grocery lists and weekly prep tips to go along with it. Not only will you have a grocery list for each of the 4 weeks of meals, but you’ll also get a grocery list for the entire month to help you take advantage of grocery sales from week to week.
As you can see I got a little page flag happy as I was reading through it. I love reading cookbooks!!
Recipes include dishes like Three-Cheese Enchiladas, Teriyaki Meatballs, Taco Joes, Reuben-Style Patty Melts, Biscuit Pizza and Chicken Tikka Masala with Coconut Rice. No processed ingredients, just fresh real food that you can cook real quick. Without going broke. And what I really love is you won’t find any canned cream of mushroom soup dumped on top either. Yuck!
