Hi everyone, how are you? My parents arrived safely and we are having a great visit together. We got all the rooms switched around just in the nick of time and it’s so exciting to finally have a designated guest room. My son is also enjoying his newly painted bigger bedroom (that was my daughter’s old room). Whew!
Recipe Highlight:
So this past week I made this Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad and it was super easy to whip together and according to my family it was delicious. I think this would make an awesome potluck recipe!! Sorry I forgot to take a picture for you though.
Seasonal Menu Planning:
I’m curious to know if you all think it’s easier to get dinner on the table each night in the summer or winter? Which season do you find it easier to stick to a menu plan?
My Weekly Menu Plan:

Thursday: Greek Roasted Chicken served with baby potatoes and broccoli

Saturday: Bell Pepper and Potato Frittata
Sunday: YOYO (you’re on your own!)
Have a super week y’all!!

Avocado Strawberry Spinach Salad? Yes, please! 🙂

For me, it’s easier to stick to a menu plan during the school year. The routine keeps me consistent. In the summer, I lose track of time and 6:00 sneaks up on me.

I have an easier time cooking and meal planning in the winter. The summer usually gets so warm and makes me not want to cook at all.

The winter is easier. I teach so in the winter, I have to be on a schedule. The summer is looser and I do try to follow a plan but it is more easily disrupted.

Have a great time with your family!
I think it’s easier to get supper on the table in the winter. I’m not as hungry in the summer because I’m hot – and I hesitate to turn on the oven or broiler because of that as well. In the winter there are so many options like soup, hot sandwiches, etc that don’t sound appealing in the summer.

I have a much harder time sticking to the plan and getting dinner on the table in the summer. The schedule, or lack thereof, in summer always throws me off track.

It’s definitely easier for me to stick with a meal plan in the winter/fall. We have no schedule in the summer and everyone is outside until dark so it makes it hard to get a good supper on the table at a decent time and stick to a plan.

Oh my goodness, summer is the worst time for menu planning. I plan and shop for the month. It’s very hard to plan a month’s worth of meals when it’s too hot to even eat today. I can’t wait for the good weather to come back and the house to cool off so I can turn my oven on again.

I agree with everyone else, winter is much easier! I don’t think I’ve ever said “It’s too cold to cook, let’s just get something out” where in the summer, it does sometimes get too hot to even think of cooking. Plus having more of a routine in the winter and spending more time at home makes it easier to make a plan and stick with it.

I’m so glad to read that I’m not the only one who struggles to stick to any schedule or menu in the summer! Fall/Winter/Spring (a.k.a. school time) is a much more structured, scheduled time for us when we meet at the dinner table most nights! Summertime, the heat, the pool, the ‘laid back’ attitude, I find it so hard to want to cook-much less plan, grocery shop, etc! Thank goodness for local farmers markets!

Winter is easier. Planning around winter produce is easier than planning around summer produce.

Thank you for hosting this linky! I have shared my Seasonal Produce for August with Frugal Tips.
It’s so much easier to meal plan in the summer, there is so much more to choose from. And it’s easier to get it on the table without cooking.
