As a blessed momma to two daughters, one 14 and one eight, I know first hand that girls come with lots of itty bitty little things that can really stump a parent when it comes to organizing! So today I’m sharing with you “Five Organizing Tips” that specifically help to organize girl spaces. Whether you have a teen, pre-teen, grade-schooler or preschooler, you will find that these easy to implement organizing tips can transform a little (or big) girl’s space.
No. 1 – Match Hangers
Does this make a room more organized? Not technically, but it will make things look more streamlined and that moves you closer to being more organized. It’s an easy organizing step! I use pink hangers for my daughters and blue hangers for my son. (This also makes it easy to know who’s hangers belong to whom.)
No. 2 – Utilize Baskets
Baskets are an organizer’s assistant! I use them to categorize, separate and designate where items belong.
I know you don’t need me to say, “A place for everything and everything…”
No. 3 – Create a Display
Design an area for displaying artwork, cards, pictures, memories, awards etc. In our home about once a quarter we take a few minutes to clean up the display boards and then add their special items (the keepers) to their memory boxes.
The magnetic boards I purchased from IKEA and the blue colored square bulletin boards were a little DIY.
No. 4 – Hang Hooks
Like I said, girls come with lots of little things. Little things like earrings, bracelets, necklaces… So I use these lovely little hooks (Command Wire Hooks, 9-Hook) and slap them up wherever I need a spot to organize and categorize. I also put them on the back of doors to make a quick coat rack. (Kids are better at organizing when the clean up is simple and right in front on them.)
I also should highlight the stuffed animal catch-all in the closet, also from IKEA. #lifesaver
This is another fabulous solution that I discovered and use for my eldest daughter. She is able to easily keep her small jewelry items organized in this see-through organizer.
No. 5 – Design a Beauty Station
Whether or not your children have to share a bathroom, it is a good idea to also set up a “Beauty Station” within your daughter’s bedroom. This will allow her to spread out in privacy without having to share counter space.
The baskets (of course I used baskets) make a great spot for tucking away the hair appliances. For both of my daughters they mostly get ready in their rooms and only use the bathroom for teeth brushing and showering.
This last shot is a re-purposed cup holder. It makes for a great larger jewelry display. When organizing, always look for ways to re-purpose items around your home. Shop your own home first!
Your turn…what tips do you have for keeping up with a girl’s space, in an organized fashion? I’d love to hear!
Happy Organizing!!!

Hello and a huge welcome aboard! 🙂 I love the beauty station idea. My daughter is going to need that in the future since her bathroom countertop is very small. Thanks for the awesome post Morgan!
