Don’t you hate it when you pack a few necklaces or bracelets for a trip, tucking them into your makeup bag, and they somehow manage to get themselves all tangled up on the way to your destination? And sure- you can go out and purchase a travel organizer for your jewelry- but I always say, “Why spend the money if you don’t have to?”
How to Pack Jewelry
So here is a super simple way to pack jewelry securely and tangle-free when traveling, using something you likely already have in your home- a microfiber cloth!
Take your microfiber cloth and lay it out on your counter. (I recommend microfiber because there are no loops in the cloth which could catch onto the jewelry). Lay necklaces, bracelets, even earrings in rows- spaced just a bit apart….
Beginning on one end, roll up the cloth, making sure that no two pieces of jewelry touch one another during the rolling process, and they are each secured within their own roll of the cloth….
Keep rolling until you’ve reached the end…
Then just fold the ends together…
And place inside of your makeup bag. When you arrive it is easy to unroll, select the pieces that you want to wear, replace the rest and re-roll and store!
Easy-peasy, right? And it didn’t cost you a thing!

I have used straws before. Thread the jewelry through and fasten. They are easy to cut to size, too!

Love this idea too- I just know it would take me longer to thread each necklace thru a straw than to just roll them up in a cloth!

I put each piece in a little dime bag. They’re cheap and available at most craft stores!

OMG GENIUS!!! I mean seriously!! Wow I have been trying to untangle a set of necklaces from three months ago. We are just getting ready for a trip and this just saved me my jewelry!! Thanks so much for such a great tip!

I can never untangle my now necklaces…. I have to get my husband to do it! So much better to just prevent them from getting tangled in the first place!

Great idea Sharon. Appreciate budget friendly organizing options. You can also put your necklaces through a straw to prevent them from getting tangled.

I remember my Grandma always using Kleenex tissues so that’s what I have always done. This is more environmentally friendly, though. 🙂

We travel just enough that I’ve learned the fastest and easiest way to pack and store my jewerly. Everything that is a chain necklaces, braclets, anklets etc fits into a straw. Everyone that has tried this uses it and nothing is tangled ever. Enjoy your travels!
