Hello Org Junkie readers! I hope you are well. This weekend we were finally able to get out our patio furniture after a long winter so we can now enjoy dining al fresco, drinks, snacks and hanging out in the sunshine! After a long winter, being able to enjoy a deck or patio as another outdoor room is such a special treat!
Before I had my husband and son bring out all the patio furniture, they are a few things we had to do to get organized. So I thought I might share with you the process of how we go about organizing our outdoor space. It takes a few hours, but the result is so worth having a clean and fresh space to enjoy!
Here is a CHECKLIST of things to do to get your space ready for summer fun in the next few months!
Organizing Outdoor Spaces for Summer:
1} Sweep off leaves and other debris from the deck or patio from the Fall & Winter. This is a great job for kids to help with.
2}Wash off a few stains with hot water and soap…another great kid job too!
3}Check hand railings and stairs to make sure to fix any spots that may have weakened or shook loose during the winter.
4} Clean the barbecue. Replace gas tank and other parts as needed.
5}Roll out outdoor rug.Sweep or vacuum if needed.
6} Bring out furniture and wash or dust as needed. Give the kids a bucket & brush to help!
7}Bring out chair cushions and spot clean stains or wash in washer.
8} Bring out plant pots and make a list of potted plants that you would like for decorating your outdoor space.
At the end of the day, you should have a gorgeously clean space that is ready for your family to enjoy!
And here is my very best tip of all..Don’t forget spray paint! It’s your secret weapon! It works magic like no body’s business. You can use it to refresh just about anything for your outdoor space and save yourself money by up-cycling something from blah to beautiful!
Look at how I used some spray paint to change this ugly old table from this:

Have you had a chance to organized your outdoor space yet after a long winter?
Did you take on any up-cycling projects?
Please do tell….I love hearing about other people’s organizing and decorating adventures!
Wishing you many happy hours in your organized and clean outdoor space!

I plan on getting my patio set up this weekend and start planting my containers. I just did a post about my new patio item – a petunia basket inside of an upcycled picture frame.

I can’t wait for it to be warm enough to sit outside without a jacket – hopefully it won’t be long!
