The following is a guest post from regular contributor, Shannon at AKA Design. I am so loving this series and I hope you are too!
Hi Organizing Junkies! Is it possible that May is almost over already? How did that happen?
What did you all think of the last Box It Up?
Do you remember the basic premise of this whole series? Basically we’re taking ‘workaday’ items – things that are often necessary, but not always handy when needed – and create mini-kits to keep around the house. They don’t take up much room at all, but they come in real handy.
Of course, even better is that most of the items in each and every Box in the series can be found at the dollar store!
This week’s Box is all about Parties – of the last minute variety.
Most of the time parties are planned. Cake and balloons are ordered ahead of time; pretty coordinating plates, cups, and napkins are purchased and put out with plenty of time to spare.
But what about when something comes up last minute? Or when an occasion is forgotten? Ack! How embarrassing?!
Having a little box of party supplies ‘up your sleeve’ can be a super sweet way to celebrate friends or family!
For a box full of last minute party supplies, include:
- Pretty napkins
- Streamers
- Balloons
- Plates (coordinate with napkins)
- Cupcake decorations
- Plastic utensils
- “Birthday” candles
You could also include:
- Sparklers
- Matches
- Banners
- Cupcake mix
Simply pack up your box (remember I use cheap-o plastic shoe boxes found at The Home Depot for less than a dollar each!) and store in the kitchen, pantry or hall cupboard. This is definitely a great partner to the Handwritten Not Box we talked about a few weeks ago.
Okay, ladies (and gents) this is your challenge: prepare your Last Minute Party Supply Box and throw an impromptu celebration!
xo,
Shannon

I am so expired with your blog. But it is frustrating, everything I own is in storage while we wait for a house to be built!! Right now I am so excited to see your hint 12 things every guest room needs. Looking forward to following your process when I have a home again. Do you have any suggestions for organizing chile you are moving into a new home?

That should read organizing while moving into a new house. 😉
