Can you believe it’s almost March? I have no idea why I’m always so surprised when another month rolls around, like I have no idea how it works or something. One month after another over and over and over again 🙂
Challenge:
March is gearing up to be super exciting around here though for the simple reason that I will once again be running my annual organizing challenge. This year it will take place during the month of March and will run for of course 31 days! All the details, including how it will run and who all the amazing sponsors are (so exciting!), will be provided this Friday so watch for that. Similar to last year we will be concentrating on one entire room in our home and for right now all you need to do is decide which room you’ll want to spend the month organizing and then take before pictures in all their glory. This isn’t a challenge for those that just need to do a little tidying here or there or that simply want to make an already cute room even cuter. Nope this challenge is for those that I’m most passionate about helping, those of you drowning in clutter and that are overwhelmed with the chaos of your space. This is the challenge for YOU because I believe you CAN do this!!

Please be aware though that in order to participate you will need some way of linking up to my challenge link ups each week. That can either be done through a blog or even via Pinterest. It’s easy to set up both so check out this video on how to set up a quick blog or this post from my friend Becky on how to use Pinterest to participate in the challenge.
Come back on Friday for all the details and to kick off Org Junkie’s 31 Day Organizing Challenge!!
Header:
I quietly slipped a brand new header up there last week which I know a few of you noticed. I was tired of feeling all boxed in and so I had my designer, Greg from Engine 1 Media, bust me out of my boxes and free me up. I kept with a similar color scheme because well I do love me some color. However I also love white space so I think we achieved a nice balance of both. In addition, I get emails all the time asking me how to subscribe to my blog. So while I had a nice flower icon up in my header before if you didn’t know what symbol you were looking for you wouldn’t have known it was there. So I’m making it easy, hence the pink box you see. Clicking on that will lead you to my subscribe page and the various options you’ll have to stay up to date on what’s happening around here. I hope to add a newsletter very soon as well and I’ll include the sign up on that page too. I’ve also made the search box easier to find so you can search my archives to your hearts content or if you don’t then well just ignore that part 🙂 Thanks again Greg for all your help!
Survey:
Finally a big thank you goes out to all of you who took the time to complete my little survey. I so appreciate it. I thought it would be fun to share some of the results with you.
- as you might guess 99% of you that read here are female. I do believe I have four male readers which is pretty cool. Hi guys!
- the average reader age is between 35-44 at 35%. I also have 5 teenage readers, loving that!
- 82% of you are married
- No big surprise to me that a whooping 79% of my readers are from the US with only 10% coming from Canada and 12% coming from other locations.
- The majority of my readers at 36% work full time outside of the home, with homemaker following close behind at 28%.
- 30% of you have 2 kids in your family with the majority being between 0 and 5.
- Almost half of my readers have been reading for one year or less (so good to know!) and 13 readers have been with me since the beginning. You rock my friends!
- The majority read my blog via email.
The one question that I forgot to ask that I really wanted to know was how many of you are actually bloggers yourself. Oops!
Help Wanted:
I have two positions I am currently looking to fill. I’d like to add one more contributor to my line up here. If you consider yourself an organizing junkie (or on your way to becoming one!) and would like to blog here twice a month about this beautiful passion of yours then please consider applying.
- Having a blog is a plus, but not a requirement.
- Special consideration given to organizing tips & tricks in a household with young kids.
- Some photography knowledge is appreciated. All photos must either be yours or correctly sourced.
- Posts should be specific for I’m an Organizing Junkie readers and should not be posted on your personal blog {however, feel free to link, tweet and Facebook like crazy about your content!}
- Please share or link to samples of your writing style and as well provide picture examples
- This will be a paid gig.
Please send an email to organizingjunkie(at)gmail(dot)com with Contributor in the subject line along with all the necessary information as noted above.*
Next I’m in desperate need of some virtual assistance help for a couple of hours per month (probably no more than 10). I’d like someone to come along beside me and streamline some of my processes and handle my newsletter for me. I am specifically looking for someone with Mad Mimi, WordPress.org and Gmail experience.
Please send an email to organizingjunkie(at)gmail(dot)com with Virtual Assistance in the subject line along with your experience, qualifications and rates.*
Deadline for both positions will be March 8th.
*Please note that I will unfortunately not be able to select or respond to everyone that applies.
Whew that was a lengthy one today. Thanks again everyone! I appreciate you coming by each day. Mwah!
Now stop reading here and go take some before pictures of your space, Friday is only two days away!!

I have a blog that I’m just starting and I’m hoping to get some organization going in my bedroom and master bath.

I don’t have one room (other than my garage, which will have to wait till warmer weather) that needs to be organized, rather I have a “junk” spot in almost every room: the front hall closest, a cupboard in my kitchen, part of my master bedroom & walk-in closet, and parts of my basement. Is that enough to participate? I would love to join in, and post on my blog, might actually make me do something about these areas!

Hi Mo, this challenge is for whole rooms rather than small spaces but I may run another challenge later in the year specifically for small spaces 🙂

Hi! I am super excited for the challenge! My only issue is determining which room I would do… I have some rooms that would just need a tidying up and wouldn’t take a whole month, then I have our basement – ugh – our dumping ground – I am afraid that would take well OVER a month to complete. Any suggestions?

Your basement!! 🙂

I’m one of those “less than a year” readers, and I have a blog! I started reading because I am moving into a new apartment in March, and I’m looking for fun but nice-looking ways to stay organized in my new space.
Kari says
Master bedroom here I come!!! Can’t wait to get started!!

Great post, and I’m a blogger, Laura! Keep up the great work!

Love the new header, Laura! You’re right that it is clean and easy to find things, but I also found your other design well organized – I wouldn’t expect less from you. 🙂
