Oh I so enjoyed all the comments on my silly post the other day. Who knew that all of you in the US were missing out on so much deliciousness in the junk food department hahaha 🙂
For instance, how can it be that you don’t have ketchup chips there? It’s so wrong! They are my absolute favorite, yum, yum, YUMMY! Here try a few, trust me you won’t be able to just eat one.
And now they make a baked version that is actually pretty good. Yeehaw!
Someone else said that you also don’t have dill pickle chips in the US, is this true? Wowzers. What is your favorite potato chip flavor? Maybe there are some kinds we don’t have here in Canada.
And here’s another treat that I have to have at Christmas that I know is popular everywhere. It’s just not Christmas without Caramel Popcorn!
Have a wonderful day everyone!
Merry Christmas!!
Many blessings to you and your family as you celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior!

We have both ketchup (these very recently have been on grocery store shelves) & dill pickle chips here in Wisconsin. They are both made by Old Dutch. Dill pickle chips are my 17 yr. old daughter’s favorite.
Mmmmm…caramel corn.

We absolutely have dill pickle chips here (Texas at least!(. Several different brands, in fact. So yummy!

I have never heard of ketchup chips although I see from your other comments that I you can find them in some areas! Dill pickle chips I’ve seen around here but not too often. Merry Christmas!

We used to live in Ontario and I had completely forgotten about the ketchup chips. My brother loved them. My favorite was All-Dressed Chips. Yum!

I am going to have to look around for those Ketchup chips here in Colorado. We do have the dill pickle ones from time to time and I LOVE them! Some of our popular chips are, Sour cream and onion, cheddar, BBQ, Salt and Vinegar, Ranch. Do you have all those? Thanks for sharing, I love hearing about these differences its so cool.
Merry Christmas!
Jillian Mitchell says
Ok so I was intrigued and so I looked up the lays Canada website. We do not have the fish n gravy flavor, or chicken flavor potato chips either. Eww that really sounds gross, have you ever tried them? We have balsamic sweet onion, chile limon, cajun herb and spice, Garden tomato and basil, pepper relish, flamin hot, and southwest cheese and chiles. I confess I have not tried any of those flavors.
FishMama says
Those do sound gross. 😉
Laura says
Wow those are some very interesting flavors I’ve never heard of before 🙂

LisaC says
Ketchup belongs on Mac and Cheese!
Mrs. Wilson says
Ketchup chips are my favorite as well. And I can’t get enough of caramel popcorn!
Merry Christmas Laura!!
FishMama says
I’m stunned. 😉 I think the ketchup kind and those others mentioned sound, well, yucky. But, I’m just a plain or a BBQ girl myself. Thanks for the laugh, Laura!
Anna says
I’ve had dill pickle chips & they’re yummy! I bought them a couple of times when I lived in Connecticut. I haven’t found them here (Eastern Washington) but I have not looked very hard either.
Joyce says
My friend would love the ketchup chips!! She puts ketchup in almost everything!
Shell W. says
We have or at least had dill pickle chips in the US they’re not very good in my opinion & I like pickles. Don’t know about ketchup chips since I currently live in Germany & our American supplies are limited to what’s current & will actually sell.
Toni says
I would love to try the ketchup chips! I dip my chips in ketchup so I’m sure I would like them. We use to have the dill pickle chips in Ohio, but I haven’t been able to find them the last few months. I want them to bring them back, they were my favorite.
Susanne says
Do you guys have a superstore near where you live? They have pizza flavor chips. Yummy, they are soooo good. My favorite is still barbque, though, but I have to say I do like the Lay’s better than the Old Dutch now.
Is that the new doggie? What a cutie!
Laura says
I’ve never heard of pizza flavor…will definitely look for that!
Yes that’s Bella, she is such a sweetie!!

Crab chips are a big hit in the area between Philadelphia, PA and Baltimore, MD.
Laura says
Wow that’s a new one to me! I love crab though so I’m thinking I would like it 🙂
Barb S. says
They don’t actually taste like crab, but like the “Old Bay” seasoning often used on crabs in the mid-atlantic states. That seasoning is good on lots of things–I use it on French fries (just drizzle oil over fries, sprinkle seasoning, mix with hands until everything is coated, and bake as usual).

I live in Minnesota and we have had Dill Pickle Chips for around 20 years now, but I prefer using either pickles or dill pickle relish on plain potato chips. I also grew up dipping plain potato chips in ketchup (I was asked once, while pregnant, if that was a pregnancy thing. No, since I have been doing this since I was probably 2 or 3 years old 🙂 We do have the ketchup chips that you can buy. We’ve had those around for about 5 years or so. Chips! What a great food item to buy or make! Yummy!
Crystal says
I’m from AL and I have yet to see ketchup chips though I do know a lot of people who dip thier chips in ketchup. 🙂 As far as Dill Pickle Chips go thier my favorite and we have all kinds of brands!
Linda says
We had the ketchup and dill pickle chips for a few months this summer.I live near Dallas,Texas.I got a couple of bags, then they disappeared. We visited Colorado Springs, Colorado this summer and I found the ketchup favor at Walmart. I love ’em.They taste like a non-spicy version of BBQ to me. yummy!
Ashley says
Ketchup flavored chips sound interesting! I don’t think I have seen them in Louisiana but I could have overlooked them. My kids would probably love them! I like the pickle flavored chips but can’t always find them. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE pickles and have craved them more than ever with this pregnancy so a stash of pickle chips in the pantry would be so wonderful right now! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
Melody says
We have pickle flavored chips in Tennessee too. I’ve seen ketchup chips before (yum!) but they were a different brand and I can’t remember which they were. I used to have a friend from Canada who was similarly appalled that we didn’t have ketchup chips. 🙂 I will definitley be bringing some back this way if I ever get to Canada!
Shannon says
We most definitely have dill pickle chips! Not sure where the people are living that say they don’t have them. Pringles even has some but they’re not as good as others. I’ve seen the Ketchup ones but I’m not a fan of Ketchup so never really paid attention to them. You can’t find them all the time though. I only see them on occassion.
Just Amy says
My husband informs me that we do have ketchup chips in Pennsylvania…and I have seen dill pickle chips too. My all time favorite chips are cracked pepper and sea salt chips…couldn’t tell you who make’s ’em, but we stole a bag from a relative and they were SO GOOD…the second favorite is vinegar and salt chips. My dad says they have been eating fries with vinegar on them in Canada since the dawn of time, but we’re just catching on here in the US…
Danielle @ Kids Meal Crowd says
Here in Northern New England, we can find Humpty Dumpty chips in some stores. Those have always been my favorite Ketchup chips. Also have Dilly chips and All-Dressed. We can also find ketchup and dill pickle flavors in the Herr brand of chips.
But my favorite Canadian craving? Poutine! So bad for your diet, but oh so yummy! Where is the snack bar (or ice hockey rink) when I need it. LOL

Never heard of ketchup chips, now I am going to have to look for them (I’m in California). My 7-year-old son would drink ketchup out of the bottle if we’d let him, so he’d go bonkers over ketchup chips!!
Amazing. LOL!
Erin Stitt says
Certain areas of the US have ketchup chips, but I think they are generally the states that are closest to Canada. I haven’t tried them (nor do I intend to!) but I did see Macaroni & Cheese flavored chips at Target!! I’m not sure about that! — Love your blog!!
Petula says
We have dill chips. Maybe it’s just certain parts of the US. I’m in Georgia. Ketchup chips don’t sound to yummy so I’ll take your word for it. 😀
Bethany says
Here in nj herrs ketchup chips are available from time to time- I stock up bc they disappear without warning. Dill pickle chips have recently become common (lays brand). when in Canada I always have ketchup chips (Dutch brand are my favorite but I haven’t seen them in the states) and bring a bag or two back.
Cindy deRosier says
I live in California and this is the first I’ve ever heard of ketchup chips! I’ve vacationed in Canada (B.C) 6 times and have never come across them. I’m adding these to my must-try list.
