Hi all! It’s my youngest son’s 5th birthday today! I’m not really a birthday party mom (the chaos leaves me sucking my thumb under a blanket in the corner) but this year my son only wanted to invite over his two best buddies. Cool, two is manageable! So they’ll be here for a little party this afternoon involving chocolate cupcakes, chocolate frosting and sprinkles. We can’t forget the sprinkles! I did a little google search and decided to go with this cupcake recipe I found on the Joy of Baking site. They turned out pretty good, I think he’s going to be pretty happy with them!
Before I get into my menu plan I’ve got another amazing free resource to tell you about. Check out this Free Thanksgiving Printable Party Package from DimplePrints. Wow!
I also really liked this easy Give Thanks Banner-Free Printable from At Second Street.
If you are still on the hunt for some Thanksgiving recipes Recipe Girl has put together two different posts featuring many delicious recipes…Traditional Thanksgiving Menu and Gluten-Free Thanksgiving Menu. And of course one of my all time favorite sites, Taste of Home, has a whole section on Thanksgiving recipes where I’m sure you’ll have trouble narrowing down your choices 🙂
I hope you find those links helpful. I want to wish all of you a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving day with friends and family. Enjoy!
Here’s what we’ll be eating this week:

Everything on the menu sounds delightful! I am on the hook for soups, as it has finally cooled down to a nice 7o degrees here in NW Florida.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

OK–I have to ask. Why are you having leftover buffet on Thanksgiving?!?
Laura says
Rachel, I’m Canadian! We had our Thanksgiving last month 🙂

Rachel I was thinking the same thing….
Laura, I have been reading you blog forever and that is an important fact about you that I am always forgetting. 🙂 But thank you for all the Thanksgiving links, anyways! 🙂
Audra-Cup of Daisies says
Oh, and you are always welcome in my home for Thanksgiving… but you will have to fly to Texas… quite a commute for a ammature cook to make you dinner 🙂
Rachel says
Nevermind that. I just remembered you’re from Canada, right?? That makes perfect sense! 🙂
Laura says
LOL, I’m so sad though when I see all the delicious recipes and food being had this week. Who wants to invite me over? 🙂

Happy birthday to your boy! Enjoy your day with him. I’m just like you, I was not and still am not a party mom. Your menu sounds so good this week and the weather is just begging for a good potato soup isn’t it?
