A fun organizing tip and an Avery giveaway!

A couple of weeks ago I told you about a fun contest called the Organization of Moms that Avery was holding where they were going to award one mom $2,000.00 for entering her time-saving organizing tip. Well the winner has been announced and it’s Denise Ziemann for her school memory book tip! (to see all the submitted entries visit here)
Denise keeps her kid’s school work and art projects organized in binders. Here Denise explains about it in her own words:
I made a school memories binder for each of my kids using an Avery 1 1/2″ EZ turn ring binder and Avery Premium Heavyweight Sheet Protectors. Each grade is divided with Avery Tab dividers. Every year I have them fill out a template “questionaire” of all their favorites. I slip it in the beginning of the year along with anything else throughout the year I want to save. Art projects (if they are too big I take a picture and put the picture in), report cards, holiday cards from school, certificates, etc. I have also laminated some of the special ones for extra protection. The next phase is getting Avery baseball card sheet protectors and putting a wallet sized picture of the kids in each year!

My favorite part of summer is traveling to my family in Belgium. I escape the South Carolina heat for a few weeks and see everyone that I have been missing for a year.
My favorite part of summer has to be that I can get my husband to grill all the time so we don’t heat up the inside of the house so much.(translation : I get things ready for him to cook and I don’t have to stand in the hot kitchen)

My favorite part of the summer is actually two things. I love the first day after school lets out because it’s nice to not have to get up and immediately go into scheduled mode. I am almost embarassed to say what the 2nd thing is but here goes. I love the day before school starts again because by that time my daughter is sooo bored that she is actually excited to be starting school again. Summer, it’s like a double edged sword and cuts both ways, LOL
I love sleeping in late, and wearing shorts instead of slacks!
I love summer nights watching the kids catch lighting bug and them gettin to stay out late.And in our county Basball,softball,Tee-Ball all play ..all the fields are packed with kids and parents…..Then going to the dairy bar after the game and seeing friends again…..not to mention the best shakes and ice crean in the world…They are only open in summer so it’s a huge treat for all of us ….

I love going to the beach with my kids! I get some great pictures, and we have a blast!
How neat! I use binders for my kids’ papers as well but I love the idea of using the baseball card holder for pics from each year.

This is an awesome idea. My son is only 3, but this year I have struggled to keep up with all of his work and get it organized. I will definately try this for the upcoming school year. I think of organization often, but rarely am able to implement it well. I am in need of real help, so thanks!

I am in education and summer is the time I get my house back in order to survive another year! I’m using Peter Walsh’s book “It’s All Too Much” to help me this year!
My best organization tips is labeling things with pictures and words for my kids. I have one first grader and one entering kindergarten. My boys are really great about helping clean up if they know where things go. My favorite part of the whole thing is when I set the boys loose on a magazine – treasure hunt style – looking for the picture to match the storage box or drawer we are labeling! Completely awesome and fun too!

We moved to the Midwest from FL in April so this summer has been full of family activities! We enjoyed our first family vacation to Colorado, so wonderful. Now I am trying to figure out how to get school organized before we start homeschooling in a month….yikes!
I just love having my daughter home for the summer, but after a couple of weeks, she become so bored! It’s great that she goes to camp for 6 weeks…she loves being with the other kids doing activities and I get to have some alone time to try and organize my house before school starts again in September. I love not having to get up and moving before the school bus comes. I love the lazy and/or crazy summer days spent with all three of kids home. And after their bedtime, I love when family and friends stop by for a relaxing chat on the front porch. Carefree summer days….life is good today!

Oh I am all about me some labeling and organizing these days and cute little bags/baskets too. I don’t know what it is but with summer here, I just love cute bags/baskets to carry all our summer stuff in. Around our house, summer is just a little more laid back even though we still have early mornings due to be being a single, working mom of three. But the atmosphere is so much more calmer I guess due to no ‘tardy’ bells ringing at school so there’s no huge rush to be out the door

I love spending time outside with my family and friends biking, playing sand volleyball, walking and running.
Fireflies. I love the fireflies. Will never forget when each of my kids saw a firefly for the first time. The squeals of excitement as they ran to catch these summertime light-up delights.

I love office supplies! In fact that may be one of my favorate things about summer. All the sales on office supplies LOL!!! No really what I really, REALLY, love durning the summer is all the birthdays we celebrate. In the next 5 weeks we have 6 birthdays and three of the birthday boys / girls live in my house. The others are family that are close by. IT’s so much fun since it feels like we are celebrating all summer.

I love summer….because we can’t afford camps for our little ones and I work second shift. We have Camp Collins! complete with weekly themes, dino digs, swimming in the inflatable pool and volleyball using a beachball and string! We made tye dye t-shirts to start the week off and are showing movies outside to end it all.

I live where it’s really hot, so honestly, my favorite part of the summer is the AC. When it’s 110 out, we don’t go outside much. On the plus side, we often hit 75 in the middle of winter so it’s not a bad thing living where it’s warm. :-)

My favorite part of summer is the abundance of fresh produce (esp tomatoes!) and the active farmers markets.
My favorite part of the summer is a late afternoon thunderstorm. I live in Alabama where is is very hot throughout the summer; however, on many afternoons we will have thunderstorms and tons of rain. It cools us down and brings the blessed rain to the crops and animals. It seems to refresh the entire area before nightfall so that tomorrow’s heat doesn’t seem so bad.

My favorite part of summer is getting to spend quality time with my husband and daughters. It’s much better than them having to listen to me (‘get your cleats on!’ ‘do you have water?’ ‘we have to leave!’ ‘where’s your jersey?’ ‘ can’t do that we have school in the morning!’ ‘did you get your homework done?’) bark orders at them all the time!
I also like the fact that their friends can spend the night on ANY night, not just Friday/Saturday!

My favorite part of summer is not having to nag kids about homework and getting to bed early. There is more flexibility for what we want to do.
My favorite part of summer is being able to quietly peek into the rooms of my kids (ages 17, 16, 14 and 9) and see the peaceful look on their faces as they have nothing to wake up for for hours.
Sure beats the chore of having to storm in to wake them for school! 11 weeks of bliss.
My favorite part of summer is the chance to catch up with friends that have been too busy during the school year. We have lots of barbecues and invite everyone over. The kids all play together and the adults relax and everyone gets caught up to speed with what everyone else has been doing.
My favorite part of summer is being with my own children full time since I spend all school year with other ppls children ;) I also enjoy gardening and just being out in the sun :) I will say we stay very well stocked (at home and in my classroom) with Avery labels :)

My favorite part of summer is actually coming up in three weeks,it is going up to Camp Timberlee to help with the program called Urban Camp. At this camp we are reaching out to children from the inner city,not just have a fantastic time,but sharing the word of God in a non-threatening way. While I love summer because of the slower pace and spending more time with our children,which I do every day being a homeschooling mom, summer is just a time of wonder for everyone at any age.

We just moved to the US after living overseas for 17 years. I absolutely love the long summer evenings and watching the lightning bugs come out as the sun sets–after 9pm! After living in a country where the sun rises at 7am and sets at 7pm year round, with no lightning bugs, it’s such a delight!

I enjoy the grown children coming for visits the most. Secondly, I enjoy the longer days and evenings where the neighbors are out watering and visiting with one another. The heat of the day is really hot here so the evening or really early morning is most enjoyable. I am not an early gal so the evening is best for me. I also have time to organize, stamp, sew and read since school is out and I am a teacher!

My favorite part of summer is being able to relax and be spontaneous. I love lazy days when the kids are covered in dripping popsicles and I bathe them by turning on the sprinkler. :) This summer I am also looking forward to ORGANIZING/CLEANING the house . My 3 children are 3, 4, and almost 6 and this past year was crazy with preschool (3 hours long) and kindergarten (2 hours 20 minutes long). We live 30 minutes away from school and the grocery stores so I spent every week day driving back and forth for at least 2 hours or more. With only one hour at home in between trips (we tried to stay out if we could to minimize trips back and forth from the house to various extra-curricular activities but it wasn’t always an option). Needless to say this was a recipe for very little time at home when the kids could just play and I could take care of the house. So here we are, the house is a disaster and the kids are ready to never get in the car again! We are going to spend our time reclaiming our home from the clutter but mostly just enjoying each other and the sunshine that has finally arrived. I love B.C. but this winter was never ending!!

We went to Disney World and made a travel binder using Avery products (mini 3 ring binder with the protector sheets). The binder was user friendly and I was able to refer to it for flight info as well as confirmation numbers and such. Iwould love to win! My favorite part of summer is spending time outside with the family.
We’re from Pensacola and we’ve always loved the beach. But right now, it’s not happening with this dang oil spill. We are so blessed to have the pool and are loving doing that this summer!

I love summer for a few reasons:
1) it’s not -20 degrees.
2) it’s not dark when I get up and go to work AND when I come home.
3) summer means fresh produce and the chance to grow my own!
