I am really drawn to the creative crafty types (because I’m so not one of them!) especially when it comes to organizing solutions. Today’s storage star is being awarded to someone who not only found a way to use space that is so often neglected but did so in a fun and creative way. Awesome!
Kim, from A Girl and a Glue Gun, took inexpensive storage crates (she purchased them for 40% off of the $9.99 original price from Jo-anns) and turned them into this:
Seriously, how fabulous and cute is that! Not only that but where she stores them is just perfect.
Such a great spot for toys, books or even clothes!
Be sure to check out Kim’s crate post (and the rest of her fun blog) because she also includes a round-up of some of the other creative ways she has seen storage crates used around blogland. These crates are so versatile that is for sure. Thanks Kim for letting me share this today with my readers and congrats on your Storage Star today 🙂
Do you make use of the storage space underneath your child’s crib or bed?

What a great idea! I love how she used the space underneath the crib for such an organized and cute purpose!

my boys are out of their cribs and into Captain’s beds so built in storage, but I love the crates. I have 4 of them in a closet right now with books in them… Want to bring them out… guess I’ll have to decorate them…

Totally love this idea. I don’t have any space at my house I can think of using them right now…but something I’d totally do in my classroom come fall. I’ll definitely be on the look-out for some discounted crates from here on out!

I do use the space under my baby girl’s crib similarly. I didn’t get as artsy-cute as Kim did…but I do have baskets under the crib that hold toys that are too “old” for her – my little brother got so excited at the idea of being an uncle that he bought all kinds of toys for babies as well as for when she is older! I also have a basket under there that is just a “catch-all” for things I’m not quite sure where to put them in her room yet.
I do have to say that although I didn’t get crafty with the baskets, my husband did get VERY crafty with the mural he painted on her walls! http://nicolesbabyjournal.blogspot.com/2009/09/winnie-pooh.html

Awesome! I also love organizing and crates and bins and baskets and the list goes on and on and on (oh yea lists too LOL) but I like you am not very crafty nor am I creative. My kids are out of cribs but another cute way to use the space!

That is too cute! I love the way you can customize them to fit your decor’.
Oh and BTW Laura, our buyer backed out less than 2 weeks before the signing and so now we aren’t moving and I’m unpacking over 100 boxes. *sigh*
I hope your move goes a lot smoother than ours..didn’t. LOL!
HUGS!

I love those, you don’t have to paint, you could find cute vinyl stickers, so many companies make them now.

Adorable!
I use the space under my daughter’s bed for my son’s bed and her little table and chairs. [it’s a loft bed 🙂 ] I use the space under my son’s bed for plastic bins that hold stuffed animals and dress ups. I never thought of decorating them. 🙂 Hmm…. a project that needs to be done I think? 🙂 The whole area needs a de-cluttering and cleaning. This would make it more fun!

As with the rest of the beds in the house, I got a bin that was short enough to fit under my daughters bed and put all the extra bed linens for that bed in there. That way when I need to change the sheets everything is already there. Works for me!
