One of the reasons I am so addicted to organizing is because of the freedom it allows me to have by being prepared for most things that might be thrown at me. Of course I can’t possibly predict and be ready for everything but most definitely I can eliminate many stresses simply by taking the necessary steps ahead of time to be ready for whatever comes my way. It’s an amazing way to avoid last minute disasters and to embrace spontaneous moments which is the case with our Storage Star today.
Jessica from Life As Mom recently did a post about the activity bags she keeps packed and ready to go tucked away in a closet until needed. I really love this idea and even do this myself because around here the sun comes and goes so quickly it pays to be ready in order to get out and enjoy it. And believe me nothing is worse than being out for a picnic by the river on a gorgeous day only to be pestered by darn mosquitos. Keep bug spray packed and ready to go in your picnic bag and no more worries about forgetting it!
Here are Jessica’s bags all ready for fun.
I like to call it being spontaneously prepared 🙂 In the summer time I actually keep my beach bag packed and ready to go in the van just in case. Of course you can use whatever size bag you need for whatever activity you most want to be prepared for.
Jessica makes this task of preparing your bags super easy as well by providing printable bag tags that you can just print off, laminate and attach to your bags for quick and easy packing and repacking.
Head on over to Jessica’s site for the printable tags and step by step instructions.
Thanks Jessica for sharing this with us today, enjoy your Storage Star!!

This is so awesome!! Right now my family is in the process of moving from a garage-less townhouse to a single family home with a garage and I can’t wait to do this! In the garage I would put up hooks to hang the bags on so we can grab and go. Right now I have bags for the pool/beach, a bag for the gym, my sons soccer bag, my sons referee bag, backpacks etc..

I keep all of our bathing suits in our pool bag all year round. It also houses sunscreen, comb/brush, a few hair accessories, some old magazines & any pool passes we use. Its so nice to know that I can just remove any suits we won’t be wearing and everything else is ready to go!

I’m looking for a way that I can use her printable bag tags and edit the items on the list specifically for my family.

This is such a great idea! The bag tags don’t match our family exactly, but it shouldn’t be too hard to make up our own. This has already been added to my list of cool stuff to get done.

Great idea w/storage bags. I just recently stumbled on your fantastic blog. My problem is 2x I’ve tried clicking onto your sponsor link 101 at the bottom and is comes up as an error. I tried the other sponsor links to see if it was at my end and they all worked Not sure where the problelm is but would appreciate any help/

This is a great idea! I use a similar system and it definitely makes getting ready to leave the house easier! 🙂

This is a terrific idea! I’ve done modified versions of these over the years but as the kids have grown the items that go into the bags has needed to change and I’ve been slow to update. With spring sports in full swing here in Texas and summer just around the corner, I’ll for sure add this to my “to-do” list so we’re ready to just pick up and go whenever the mood strikes us!

I do this, too! Now, my bags aren’t nearly as cute–or labeled–as yours…but, they’re packed and ready to go! But, now you’ve got my little fingers itching to do some labeling… 🙂

Mine don’t look as pretty but I do this too. This is a good way to repurpose all the various sized duffel bags that are around the house. I also leave my pool/beach bag in the van all summer, my kids hate to miss out on a swim opportunity!

What a great idea! I probably wouldn’t pack so many different bags myself, as it’s just me and my boyfriend, but the picnic one would be helpful for sure. I always say I want to go on a picnic when we happen to get a nice day, but I’m never prepared for it.

Yup! Fairly awesome idea!
This goes above and beyond always having a diaper bag packed! I’m gonna do this for water park trips this summer!

I love this idea! My son and I drive 40 minutes every Saturday morning for dance classes and having tags on our dance bags will make it so much easier to make sure I have everything we need! It’s also food for thought this summer preparing for a new school year. Thanks for sharing!

I have the pool bag I leaved packed. We go to my inlaws pool either every weekend or just about every weekend so it’s just easier to keep a bag with towels sunscreen and swimsuits etc. When we come home I dry everything and repack.
