It’s no secret that I love canvas bags! They are just so versatile and inexpensive. The other day I stumbled across a beautiful blog called Transforming Home. Danielle came up with a great way to keep the clutter off her dining room table using these canvas bags tied to the backs of her chairs. I just thought it was so clever. She purchased the bags from Hobby Lobby for $5.99 for a package of four and then revamped and decorated them beautifully to match her space. Check it out:
So great and I just love how she personalized them! I find the kids always have piles of things on the table…books, homework, small toys and treasures…the list goes on and on. This storage method totally takes care of this problem. Just imagine a clutter free table…ahhh such bliss!
For step by step instructions, be sure to check out Danielle’s post at Transforming Home. Congrats Danielle for being our first Storage Star of 2010!
Oh and while you’re over there visiting, check out Danielle’s solution for keeping school papers organized. Awesome!
Do you have trouble with clutter on your dining room table? What is the biggest culprit?

I LOVE this idea. It is such a great way to control the table clutter. My main culprit on the table is my daughter’s junk!

Clutter on my dining room table???? Oh this made me laugh.
I took a picture and put it on my blog a while ago but what is on my dining room table is my older daughter’s polly pcokets and little pet shops. I call it Anna’s world. Little sister is not to touch it or even Anna’s firends, she has it all organized. I don’t worry about it right now as one day those toys will be gone and I will get my dining table back!!!

Such a cute idea! I too love the personalization, and they don’t take up space like the baskets that I used to use do.

I love this! It doesn’t have to be just for children either (let’s face it, us adults come with our own clutter)…you could update the style on the bags to be little more adult and modern and use it for yourself and/or roommate or significant other. Like April said, it doesn’t take up space like baskets and other table top organizers.

I love this idea. I could see this being used in a classroom environment.

What a GREAT idea!!

Wonderful idea! Neat and classy, too. My husband and I could certainly use this for our own stuff. I’d rather build a nice, organized mudroom/entryway/landing strip, but this could work until the budget allows.

I use those same Hobby Lobby bags, decorated with each child’s name and hung them on the inside of the foyer closet door to keep gloves, scarves, etc. What a great way of using it for my sadly cluttered kitchen table!

Oh, I LOVE this!!! We use a picnic table, so it won’t work for us in the kitchen, but I want to do it in our school room!

I love this idea. Our kitchen table always has someones books, crayons or something of the sort. The nice thing is I already have the extra bags from when we decorated our own library bags. Thanks for sharing!

I am an elementary school teacher and I LOVE this idea for my classroom. We seem to get more stuff each year, but the desks don’t get any bigger. I could easily make these or get a wonderful parent volunteer to help out. I already use “under shelf baskets” http://www.amazon.com/Get-Organized-UNDER-SHELF-WRAP/dp/B000KKMNGY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1263751201&sr=8-4 under student chairs to store textbooks. I am still in need for folder and pencil pouch storage…this just might be the answer! Thanks! 🙂

This is a great idea! We don’t allow “stuff” on our dining room table, BUT the smaller table in our kitchen is the designated homework & craft table. I could really use something like this for that area instead of having things just shoved aside into piles!

This is perfect! Thanks for the brilliant idea! I will either look for some canvas bags to alter (Canada) or just sew some bags in fabric that matches my curtains… then I thought I might get my mother in law to embroider everyones names on their bags – parents and kids!! With four little boys, ages 2,4,6,8 we are forever looking for pencils and erasers to do homework and the younger ones always bring up little things/toys so this is PERFECT! Even for spelling list etc…
Thanks Danielle for the idea & to Laura for posting it 🙂 I love organizing blogs and need all the help I can get!!!

I’d love to answer my husband’s every “Where’s my…” question with “in your bag!” How simple!
