Take Note ~ Sep 20th
I haven’t done a Take Note post since August 1st so I thought it must be time for another as a few items have been brought to my attention that I thought you might be interested in.
Find out your organization personality and enter the sweepstakes for a chance to win a $5,000 Dream Organization Makeover from Jodie Watson, plus weekly prizes. This sweepstakes is part of the Avery Do-It-Yourself Organization Campaign.
Wondering what to do with the clothes your kids have outgrown? There is a new website for buying and selling gently used kids items and maternity items, called Kidzola! The best part is if you are a busy mom with too much kids “stuff” to get rid of, they also have consultants who will come and pick up your items, take pictures, list them for sale, take care of packaging and shipping and send you a check for 60% of the sales price. If you’ve got piles of clothes waiting around and no time to get to them then this might be a great alternative for you to make some extra money.
In addition, Jennifer of the Saving and Giving blog has let me know that Goodwill is in desperate need of merchandise to sell. She is cleaning out her closet to raise awareness for such a great cause and wants you to consider doing the same.
If you are having trouble organizing those closets there is still time to get in on the Organize Your Closet Online Workshop being run by Aby Garvey of Simplify 101. If you’re looking for quick and simple ways to transform your closet into an organized and supremely functional space, this is the workshop for you! The workshop starts on Tuesday and costs $20.00.
Jennifer of the fantastic List Plan It site is once again offering her 100 Days to Christmas blog (as of today it’s only 96 days to Christmas!) for a daily dose of inspiration & motivation to get you through the busy holiday season.
Junk mail is definitely an aggravating problem for some people and recently while reading the Daily Grommet (love this site!) I learned of a service called 41pounds.org that will help you eliminate and keep all of this unwanted paper from ever entering your home. This nonprofit organization is named for the 41 pounds of junk mail the average adult gets each year.
Finally if you are in a position of coordinating volunteers, check out VolunteerSpot! It’s a free and easy online sign up tool that takes the legwork out of volunteering. In addition to helping out at school, VolunteerSpot is a great tool for scheduling soccer snacks and league tournaments, Scouts, and community service projects. Have your volunteers sign up for tasks with a simple click on an online calendar. No registration required. Automated e-mails remind folks of their commitments and schedule. I haven’t tried this service out yet but I can certainly see how it would be helpful!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Another way to recycle/repurpose items is at http://www.freecycle.org Find a network in your community, post what you no longer need, and if someone wants it they come to you for pickup. Great for keeping children’s clothes moving.
I’ve been using Freecycle for years, and I love it!
thanks for sharing about Daily Grommet! very neat site!!
It all sounds good!! I’ve actually sent back credit card requests to companies with all paper that was sent to me. Tore up the application and asked to be taken off their list. I’ve seen it work cuz we hardly get any. Now I’m getting junk mail that’s for my mom that’s in a nursing home and do the same thing.
Speaking of organization, I spent some time yesterday, after working on my lastest blog entry, looking thru my sewing projects. I’ve figured I can get a quilt finished and mailed to my brother-in-law for Christmas, THIS year. Also am finally going to make my Christmas apron from a panel I bought a few years ago. Also have some fabric that has teapots on it I’m going to use for the back side. So it will be reversible. Sewing machine was cleared off of patterns and I found something I’d been looking for. And I put some fabric in a gallon zip lock bag so pieces won’t be all over as I’ve moved them to another spot. The cleaning continues and thanks for your inspiration!! Have a good week!!!!
