As I cruised around blogland, I kept reading post after post about all these brave souls that were working out to Jillian Michael’s newest workout DVD, The 30 Day Shred. Yet what I kept noticing is that there seemed to be a common theme with them all and that was the amount of pain each of these ladies were in after starting the work out. I was intrigued. {Read more of my story at The Juice}

I started this workout just before I got pregnant and felt like I would never walk again after the first time. I am excited to start it again after I get the all clear. Hearing stories about others success is always a motivation.
Heading over to read your post now but tomorrow is Day 19 for me on the 30 Day Shred and I’m not in any pain after doing the workout. It’s a challenge but no pain!
I have done it for 6 weeks and I love it. I dropped 2 pant sizes and have lost 5 lbs. I am the smallest I have ever been. I have done a lot of videos and this one is the best. You can not beat it for the 25 minutes that you work out in
I also purchased The Biggest Loser Cook Books. It is a great combination. Almost all the recipes my family enjoyed too.
Ok- I’m going to try it… I’m and absolute sissy, and if I can’t make it to my blog for a few weeks, you’ll know why :)
I haven’t figured out where to fit this into my schedule yet, and I’m concerned about the jumping jacks freaking out my downstairs neighbor… BUT I do have the video, and I’ve even watched it to see what I’d be getting myself into.
Also – I would LOVE to lose inches and flab, weight isn’t really necessary. Congratulations on sticking with it!
Yes, it’s painful, and I didn’t get past about day 8. Oh well!
I just read your article. I had never heard of the shred until my neighbor started it a few weeks back. The concept sounded good to me, but after several weeks of her telling me that every inch of her body hurts, I’m thinking I’ll stick to my pilates and walking :)
I’ve been hearing a lot of about this form people. But I go to the gym regularly so I’m not sure when I’d be able to do it. AND call me crazy but I like it when there is a degree of pain because it means it’s working. A DEGREE of pain. I still may have to look into it.
Hugs
Kim
I love this DVD. When I first bought it, I did it three days, but then got WAY to busy (new baby, courses from home, another child out of school for summer, moving across country–you know the drill!)
BUT–I plan on doing it through soon enough. I have 5-10lbs to lose, but mostly I’m soggy and need to TONE! Thanks for the motivation!
I LOVE the 30 day shred. It’s the best workout I’ve had in a long time. I thought I would die the first time through but it has been getting easier. I made it to day 9 and had to quit for an unrelated injury.
My advice is to stretch out your muscles longer than the video does once you are done. I wasn’t sore very much but that’s cuz I stretched my legs out for another 10 minutes. Buy it! It’s the best $10 I’ve ever spent.
PS…don’t know how long this will last but Walmart.com has is on sale for $6! If you chose “site-to-store” shipping it’s FREE.
I did it too! I am a runner normally, so it was nice to do something different. And I loved the sore feeling! I haven’t been as consistant with it as I would like!
Seems to be a pretty popular video these days but I think that’s because the results speak for themselves. I also like the fact that it’s only 25 minutes, it’s totally doable!!
I love your site; I’ve been scoping out the Menu planning for a long time now but have never commented. I have been using the Shred for 11 weeks now and love it! I have lost 13 lbs already and am the slimmest and tonest I’ve ever been!
All right, Miss Laura, you’ve convinced me. I’m going to Wallymart to see if they have it. But I will warn you, you will be getting emails from me, ’cause I don’t suffer quietly or alone! ;v)
Go to sparkpeople.com. It’s a free site that helps you get started on your weight loss journey or maintain a healthy weight. It has all the tools you need to succeed. I’ve been on for 5 weeks and have lost 12 pounds! It has a great nutrition tracker as well as a fitness tracker to track your calories burned, etc. Not only those 2 things but a huge amount of information to keep you motivated and inspired. They have “spark teams” you can join. Goals on those teams you can join. For all you “Shred” fans, they have team just for you!
Look into it. It’s amazing. No pills, gimmicks or anything fake. It’s real with real people who teach you proper nutrition to change your life and keep it that way!
A couple of ladies recommended this to me last week also. I had never heard of it before, but will definitely be giving it a try!
I did this to lose baby-weight. I haven’t done it consistently because it’s hard to fit it into my schedule this time of year, but I noticed huge changes in my soft, leftover baby-belly in just a couple of days. It was painful, but totally worth it–and, like you said, it doesn’t take very long.
Ok, so I only made it 2 days last time around. I guess it’s time to give Jillian another try.
just started it today and am going to keep with it also bought the books but the diet is alittle expensive and the book workouts are alot harder and need equipment I dont have just yet. I amd definetly going to stick with it. I am so Happy to find some more shred heads!
