As most of you know I love lists and that was especially evident in a post I wrote last year titled “How Regis & Kelly help me get my Christmas cards done“.
Recently I had the opportunity to take this whole list obsession thing even one step further. I’ve been working with a company called Springpad to create a customized online Christmas Card Planner & Log to go along with that Christmas card post and I’m so happy to share it with all my readers today (link below).
First let me explain what Springpad is all about. Springpad is a fantastic FREE tool for creating online notebooks to help manage your life and the best part is that it’s fun and easy to use too. They have notebooks to cover just about everything you can think of including menu, holiday, trip and chore planners. Springpad can also help you organize your calendar and to-do lists and you can even give other people access to your notebooks, perfect for helping family members stay on top of things. I highly recommend watching both of these short video clips to help explain things a little bit better.
New Springpad features (this one includes tips on how the menu planner notebook works)
Anyway if you want to test out Springpad notebooks go ahead and give my Christmas Card Planner & Log a try by clicking on the Spring It link below (you do have to register first before you can access it though). You’ll also find the link at the bottom of my Christmas card post.
Spring the Christmas Card Planner!
Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

I will be back to check this out when I have more time. Your blog has so many things to see that it may take some time. I do love lists.

I use springpad and totally accessed your file and woah! That’s awesome! Good job!
My cards are going out late as I’m waiting on a photograph. *SIGH* I hate that I seem to be running New Year’s cards these last few years… but… such is life! Last year was on purpose, this year is not.

Just when I decided that I am tracking too many organizing blogs, you come up with something as grandeous as THIS. I liked the mitten organizer idea too. Keep up the good work!

Hi Laura!
I follow springpad on Twitter and tried it out a bit but I don’t think I stuck with it long enough because I couldn’t figure it out.
But it looked like such a GREAT idea! So now that you have prodded me, I’m heading back over there again. If this takes off, it really will transform the way we organize! If it’s all online, you could go to a hotel in another city, and still check your springpad to find out when you next have to clean your toilets!
I guess that’s not the main use, but it would be nice for it to all be online. Then I could use my husband’s computer and still find my lists…

This is WONDERFUL! I love it! Now I can keep track of everything regardless of where I am. Thanks so much for sharing this!

Aren’t you a busy beaver. I’m off to check that out, ’cause you know I haven’t even started my cards. Bad, bad, bad.

I love you blog! You truly inspire me to get myself organized even more!! I love reading your ideas and thoughts…I do not know where you find the time. Happy Holidays.

Tried to see the “New Springpad features” but the link took me to a login screen for WordPress. Can you help me out? LOL, I’m curious to see the features since I just signed up.

This is amazing. Of course, I wound up joining. I entered one of my favorite recipes actually one which I made today and then went to look at the shopping list and there was all my ingredients. Now, if only I had more hours in my day to type up all my recipes. Guess I’ll do it on a daily basis. I already sent out my holiday cards and used labels so that part really didn’t help me but maybe next year it will. Thanks so much for sharing this. Now, I must go bookmark it before I lose it and can’t get back to it.

Posting about this on the 17th of December, less than 10 days before Christmas is like trying to organize after the horses have left the barn, the barn got foreclosed on, and there are new owner of the barn.
Nice idea and perhaps the post should be reserved for EARLIER in the year next year, but if you aren’t organized with your christmas card list and everything else for the season by now, your kind of screwed.
It is WAAAAY to late to be blogging about a tool to be used for the season less than 10 days before its all over.
Laura says
I was going to just delete this negative comment but instead decided to address it instead.
Just for the record I only sent my Christmas cards out this week (Dec 17th) and don’t feel “screwed” as you say. Nor would I judge anyone else that is also doing the same. If someone chooses to send their cards out late or not at all that is no one else’s business but theirs.
It is exactly these types of comments that contribute to the stress of moms everywhere trying to live up to someone else’s ideal of what we should be doing and when. We definitely don’t need this pressure from “society” that tells us we aren’t measuring up somehow.
These types of
ridiculousattitudes are what I’m trying to change in this world through my blog. I don’t think making others feel guilty is the way to do it.Thank you.

I’m betting Justagal was just venting out of personal frustration at not getting her own cards out when she wanted to (at least, that’s what I’d like to believe ).
And I am REALLY loving the Springpad menu planning tool – MUCH easier than doing the thing in WordPress. I am so impressed with how it sucks in the ingredient list (or makes its best guess as to what are ingredients) so I can pop them into my shopping list.
I only had a few minutes to play with it last night before bed, but I’m hoping to explore it in greater depth later this week (you know, instead of sending/worrying about Christmas cards).

Thanks for the heads up on this. It looks like a great tool! It’s pretty fun so far. I’m way too into lists!

I am trying the spring pad this week to plan my meals. I have it all planned out. I added everything to my shopping list. I printed the plan page. Works great. Printed my shopping list (cuts off the items on the bottom yes my list is that long) no big deal I just wrote on the side the missing items. Now, I’m trying to print out the Cook tab where all the recipes are listed but it only prints page 1? and 2 blank pages. How do you print the entire Cook Tab? Have you tried? (okay back to searching for my recipes again and printing them individually).

I <3 Spring pad!!! I used to use evernote and other online programs before hand, but I love the integration to yelp (I’m an elite yelper) and mapping places on gmaps. Thanks for the new discovery!!
