Hospitality

I am what you would call a reluctant entertainer so it was no surprise to me that I found myself drawn to a blog by the same name. Sandy of Reluctant Entertainer is so warm and inviting and you immediately feel right at home. She gently encourages her readers to practice the art of hospitality even if only in small doses. Recently she wrote a post about how her daughter lovingly made loaves of Friendship Bread for many of her neighbors. Such a sweet thing to do.

Today my daughter and I had the opportunity to follow Sandy’s lead and reach out to one of our own neighbors. Our neighbor’s mother in law celebrated her 100th birthday (!) today so after school we quickly whipped up a batch of cookies for her. It was so much fun and I especially enjoyed putting it all together with my daughter.

Thanks Sandy for all the inspiration you provide week after week!

Sandy also does the most gorgeous giveaways. This week she is giving away a beautiful entertaining package (complete with pink apron!). Go take a look!

That reminds me I have some new neighbors I haven’t met yet. Maybe I will make some brownies and take them over.

We love to have people in our home. I’m trying to get better at even having just little things on hand for ‘last minute’ guests, like popcorn and drinks.

But I also just love to surprise people with special things like bread. I haven’t done it a lot lately, so this is a nice reminder.

I too am a reluctant entertainer so I know how hard this can be. I am so proud of you for reaching out like that. I am sure your neighbor appreciated that gesture so much!
