Storage Star ~ Organizing the mudroom

in Storage Star

Oh my gosh are you in for a treat today. Right now I have two friends in town that would like some assistance putting together a mudroom and when I saw Lisa’s pictures I found some great inspiration! Take a look at this picture and see why Lisa’s mudroom is Storage Star worthy.

Isn’t that incredible! Honestly she has thought of everything when creating this space. Each kid has their own bin in the mail sorter for school and sport papers, the red bins hold sports uniforms and accessories and the white bins on the bottom contain shoes and perhaps even an I’m Outta Here Shelf. The backpack cubbies provide ample space for the necessary daily items with everything right there at their fingertips. My own backpack station pales in comparison let me tell you. For further details and pictures of this fantastic space please visit Lisa’s blog Take 90 West.

Lisa I love the thought and attention to detail you put into this space and I can totally see why this mudroom has saved your sanity. Well done!

That mudroom is fabulous! I wish I had the space so I could dedicate a cubby, hook and couple of baskets to each kids.
What a great job she did!

Laura – I am soooo jealous! What the heck. I feel so insignificant in comparison to this mud room. How amazing is that? I would be sane if I had a mudroom that l@@ked like that too. Our house is sooo small that I don’t have a room to even call a mudroom. BUT if I did it would look like that. I am such a copycat organizer. My “mudroom” is pretty similar to yours. I don’t have the room for a bench but we have a wooden shoe rack that I have layed on it’s side. It gives each family member (5) there own row of slots to put their shoes. Then my DH make a “coat rack” that we can hang the kids back packs on and jackets during the winter. I found a 4 sectioned wicker basket (at Goodwill’s 50% off Saturday, did not know what I needed it for but I think I heard you say “you need that” LOL!!) that I put ontop of the shoe rack and it holds all of the kids gloves, my sunglasses, and other odds and ends. Thats my “mudroom”.

Too cute. Did she get this idea from the one on HGTV’s Decorating Cents? They did a similar one, you can view it on their website. It was made to look like a train station waiting area, hence the clocks. Great use of space.

Wow, that’s fabulous! Lisa has done an amazing job!

Oh, how I wish I had a mudroom. We have a shoe row in the garage (no shes in the house) and hooks in the garage by the door for the daily coat/hoodie (the main coat rack is in the garage as well), then hooks in the laundry room for backbacks, etc. That’s about all I can do with the space I have…..

Thank you so much, Laura!

And Ginny, the paper sorter is from Ballard Designs.

I would give anything for a mudroom period. An organized one would just put me in orbit! Lovely, lovely, lovely!

Oh how I wish I had a mudroom that size!!! Mine’s more of a hall way with NO ROOM for anything but hooks!

One day … one day I’ll have a huge mudroom and I’ll make it look just like that!

LOL..I just want to be her neighbor so I can come over every day and stare at her cubbies. Maybe she’d even give me my own space, wouldn’t that be sweet!

We’re building a new house and my must-haves for the mud room are storage spaces like this for each person, sit down spots to take off the shoes, and a drinking fountain. I can’t wait!

I’m envious of the mudroom! Wish I had one. That looks awesome! My office is right by the front door and I’ll be converting a part of it to accomodate the kid’s stuff. It’s always just tossed in the diningroom when they get home from school. I have until August to get the accomplished!

If I could design one I would have closed cupboards to hide everything that looks so beautiful in this photo. She did a wonderful job, I just like things behind closed doors. And since I don’t have children at home I would have a space to hang longer coats. This one is tops with children at home.
