I’m giddy for good mail!

QueenB is talking about her love of good mail today. I too love me some good mail. I love checking my mailbox in anticipation. Sometimes when I’m away from home and can’t check the mailbox myself I’ll phone my hubbie and the first thing out of my mouth is “did I get any good mail today?” I always get the same answer “well I don’t know, what is good mail?” Are you kidding me? “Good mail, you know MAIL THAT ISN’T A BILL OR JUNK, something exciting!” I tell him.

He just doesn’t get it. Mail is mail to him but to me, ahh how I love to open up my mailbox and find a card from a friend, or a catalogue, or a letter from the government explaining they’ve made a mistake on my taxes and now they owe ME a gazillion dollars. Okay that last one never happens but you know, it might! What does happen though every couple of months is I open my mailbox and find this:

Now that is what I call good mail! Be still my heart and do the happy dance!!

I heart Organize Magazine! Big beautiful glossy pages talking about my favorite subject, you can’t beat it. I just got the latest issue and it is as terrific as ever. If you’ve not heard of this magazine you can see a preview for yourself just how wonderful it is on their website. Some of the articles are even posted online.

I’m off to check my mailbox….today might be the day Reader’s Digest lets me know I’m a winner!!

What is your favorite good mail?

OOHHHHH, I love getting packages. There is NOTHING like seeing a package that was too big for the mailbox sitting on my doorstep. It gives me chills!!

Oh my gosh yes, how could I have left out packages. I would have to agree, that is definitely good mail!!! Probably could explain why I love to order online :)

I’ve been looking everywhere for the organize magazine, and I can’t find it! Any ideas? I’m in Canada…..in BC.

  11. Posted March 12, 2008 at 12:42 pm | Permalink

Hi Suzy, I’m in BC as well up north and have trouble getting certain publications in my area. However, my local bookstore does carry this one. Perhaps you can check with your local bookstore and ask them to bring it in for you. Having said that, I highly recommend a subscription which you can get right from the Organize Magazine website. It’s well worth it!

I, too, love getting cards from friends, but I am also a freebie queen, so freebies in my mailbox are always a nice surprise! :)

Yeah packages! I love the big ones. And Reminisce. I love getting Reminisce magazine in the mailbox. I put it aside to digest at night when the toddler is in bed and hubby is doing his own thing. I love the old fashioned ways.

My blog post today wasn’t for good mail. I guess a good mail would be a creating keepsakes magazine or an envelope filled with coupons or a REBATE check. Lately my mail has not been very fun. You can read my blog post regarding this.

A personal note from a friend is good mail on any day! (As well as anything that is not bill related!) :-)

I love getting magazines. I also love it when my MIL sends us packages. She sends one about once a month with good deals she finds at Target. My kids always get excited when “Lola” sends a package.

Good mail would have to be my Working Mother magazine, my Victoria’s Secret catalog ;), and my Avon delivery every two weeks. Any packages as well…:)

Ohhhh I got another one… when FedEx delivers Pampered Chef boxes… being a consultant I swear the give us this stuff so that we get crushes on our FedEx guys!

My favorite mail are coupons….lots and lots of coupons! Sometimes I’m unable to print coupons off the computer because the particular system that loads them won’t load(I don’t know why…it hates me , I think). Well, I ask for them to be mailed and then totally forget about it the next day. A few days later, I check the mailbox and lo and behold, coupons! I also trade coupons with a lovely group of women I met on a message board, so I get those every couple of days as well. Today I got a coupon for 15.00 off my bill at one of favorite restaurants because my birthday is next week. I was too excited!

I just subscribed to this magazine, as I only found ONE copy at a Barnes & Noble.
    Fantastic magazine!!

Ooooh! Me too! Today I got a book I’ve been expecting and a sale flyer for JoAnn Fabrics…no bills! My kids got a package from my mom and they’ve spent the last 30 minutes sorting through all the “treasures”…with no arguing! So…that’s a triple bonus!

I’m the EXACT same way with mail (snail mail or e-mail)! I just love getting it, and checking it, and re-checking it. My neighbors maaaaaay think I’m crazy.

I participate in Postcrossing (www.postcrossing.com)(exchanging postcards with people in other countries) so, I’m always getting interesting mail.

I found your blog via http://apeacefulserenity.blogspot.com & wanted to say hello as I begin to look around! I too love good mail. I’m always signing up for samples, etc, so anyday could be a good mail day! :D In fact, before I visited your blog, I posted “Today’s Mailbag” on my blog as I do every day or so. I like to share the goodies I get (I do Friday FREE For All each week with tons of samples listed!! Please come visit & sign up for more mail goodies, LOL! We are currently re-decoring our home room by room and I am always looking for organizational ideas so will be checking that stuff out on your site (as well as the Organize magazine you were gushing over, LOL!!) What brought me was actually a reference to Meal Plan Mondays. I did a meal plan for one week in January, and did my second this week. I want to continue it, so I am always looking for ideas and I’m thinking about doing a weekly blog post on the meal plan too. I haven’t even found the Meal Plan Monday section / posts on your blog yet, so I fear I may be lost amongst your site for awhile. (Not lost as in confused, but lost as in I’m probably here for awhile, LOL!). OK, I’ve rambled enough, let me save some space for someone else! :D

I have a love/hate relationship with the mail. I hate the junk and waste of some things. I love the catalogs (that I want) and the magazines. Letters are too and far between as most people do email otherwise it would have been that back in the “old” days :)

That’s definitely good mail! And scrapbooking magazines, for me.

I love good mail, too. In fact, I listed that in my “Things About Me” post! :) I love walking out to the mailbox with hopes of something… anything besides bills. Maybe that’s why I like to order online so much! :)

My favorite mail is freebies and magazines. Love magazines. I also love money but never get it.

  31. Posted March 15, 2008 at 12:34 am | Permalink

I too participate in Postcrossing and get lovely postcards from around the world! I also love getting packages, espcially t-shirts. The only thing I despise most is when all the stuff you have ordered comes all on the same day! It feels like a waste and you get to enjoy it all individually!!

I have been wanting to subscribe to an organizing magazine for a long time. I was thinking about Real Simple, but after looking at the preveiw for the Organize Mag, I think I want that one. Anyone that has read both magazine have an opinion on which they would rather have as a subscription?

  33. Posted March 15, 2008 at 5:01 pm | Permalink

I always love getting personal letters or cards–especially thank you notes or hand-made cards–which is probably why I like to make them…and I am assuredly very strange in that I also like getting bills. Not that I love the bill, but I do like to know how much it is, especially now that we are on a debt eradication mission.

Back in the day, when I worked at a scrapbook store and could justify the expense, I subscribed to Cards magazine. It really is a divine publication if you are a cardmaker, but at $79.00/yr. a little too rich for my blood these days.
