Well I think my talk on time management went okay last Friday. I’m not entirely comfortable speaking in front of a group but each time it does get a little easier. I will share a summary of my talk with all of you soon. Right now though my house is in chaos and I need to spend some time calling in some order to this place. The paper is creeping in and threatening to take over my world so let me go take on the battle and I’ll be back. Darn paper!
So in the meantime I’m going to send you off to The Organizing Mommy who has spent some terrific time re-organizing her kitchen. She has done a two part video series about it which I just love and I think you will too. You can view the BEFORE video here and then her follow up AFTER video here. Enjoy!!
Oh and to my fellow “freak” that found my site today by googling “organizing is my passion”, welcome, I think you’ll feel right at home here 🙂

Hi Laura,
I’m sure your talk went fine! You have some great information to share, and you’re passionate about it, and people sense that.
I speak a lot–probably about 70 times a year, to fairly large groups. What I will tell you (even though you didn’t ask 🙂 ) is that the more I do it, the more I realize you have to keep it really simple.
Think about it this way: what is the ONE thing you want them to take away? And what are TWO things you want them to do? Make sure you reinforce that ONE head/heart change and the TWO action changes throughout the talk, and it’s more likely they’ll actually change.
A lot of times speakers have great information, but they don’t clearly lead people where they want them to go. If you clearly lead people to do areas of change, and keep those areas down to one or two, it’s more likely they’ll do them.
Oh, and give them three minutes at the end of the talk for silence and writing stuff down. Again, more likely they’ll actually change.
Just my two cents :).
