Last year I was so excited when I bought some new baskets to use to organize my dishcloths, teatowels and bibs. Here is a picture of it.
Well the other day I decided to change it up for no other reason than to try something different. I love trying out different configurations. Same drawer, different baskets. I like to be wild and crazy like that. Here is what it looks like now.
I know you’re jealous of my exciting life right about now aren’t you 🙂
I don’t like to show favoritism with my baskets you see so it’s only right that I rotate them around.
You know, for FUN!
It’s a sickness.
But it does go to show you that there just isn’t one way to do something. The possibilities are endless. Try some different ways, see what works, what doesn’t. When you can find things within two minutes, when you aren’t stressed by the clutter, wasting more time than you have looking for things or spending money you don’t have replacing things you can’t find you’ll know you are on the right track.
But be careful because just when you think you’ve got it just right you’ll realize just how much fun you’ve been having and decide to change things up again.
You know, for FUN!
Oh yes it can happen to you too and you better believe I’ll be here waiting to hear all about it.

I was obsessing over what that black thing was……..oh my word!
You are such a dork – but a brilliantly talented, incredibly funny, amazingly smart dork.

LOL Live Dangerously! You’ve got me hooked on these baskets! I’m lovin’ them! I’ve even got my creamers and sugar bowl in a basket next to our coffee pot. They haven’t invaded the entire house yet but they’re coming!

Love that you change things up just for the fun of it !!!

I need to get me some of those baskets. I have a couple of areas in my house that could use those. Keep living dangerously girl 🙂

I need matching baskets for all our mittens-gloves-hats-scarves. Right now I have mismatched ones, and they’re sitting right out there by the door where everyone can see them.
Not sure how this comment relates to the post. Sorry.

I love this. It’s so good to know other people do this sort of thing! It’s a very scientific art, it could be classed as “time and motion studies”. Which way round your baskets work best and easiest for you, I’, sure people get paid for this sort of thing. Yup, definitely keep living dangerously!
Helen 🙂

I’m the same way, so don’t feel bad, LOL! The only difference is that I don’t admit it’s for fun but always hide behind the rationalization of trying to be more effective/productive. 🙂

Did you see the picture of my pantry with all the baskets?! They’re even labeled. I think I’ve caught your sickness! 🙂
Susanne says
For fun, huh? I’ve got lots of fun just waiting for you to delve into if you’d like to come to my house! I’ll even cook for you! ;v)

Hi! I was just referred to your blog by Bev at Scratchin’ the Surface – wow! what have I been missing! I’m going to have fun poking around here.
Bev also thought I should tell you about a post I recently did on organizing all my craft and sewing patterns. But from what I have seen on your site already, I’m sure I’m old news!

My family can never find anything…because I’m always changing things around for “the better”. LOL I can sooooo relate to EVERYTHING you say! That’s why I love your blog.

I like to change things up “for the fun of it” too! And the great thing is, I always like it better the 2nd time around (or 3rd, or 4th…). Hee hee!!
Marilyn says
I really liked your photos, how fun to change things around. Do you like one way better than the other? Baskets are my favorite things to use when organizing.
Gina says
I totally understand. I gaze lovingly at my new 49 cent baskets at least 2-3 times a day. I still haven’t found a home for the 4th basket or had the time to go searching for more.
Ornery's Wife says
You crack me UP! That is so funny. I am pretty sure you need to hire out to organize OTHER people’s homes if you have enough time to mess with a perfectly well tamed cupboard of your own! 🙂
Happy thursday!

I love it! I’ve actually been thinking for days and days that I need to rearrange the living room (How else do you clean under the furniture?) But I am so happy with the current configuration. You have encouraged me that their can be more than one happy way to organize! And why do you keep saying, ‘..you know…for FUN..’ like its wierd? Is it wierd to organize for fun? Do I need a doctor??
Ella says
In my new home I find myself doing this endlessly. Things may work better in *this* configuration, I decide, and the rearranging begins. I love that I’m allowing myself to take the time to do these things — because I truly have found better ways while rearranging! Case in point: my kitchen was originally arranged the way I thought it “should be.” Well, after the 15th time I opened the cabinet to reach for a glass only to pull out granola, I decided to take the time and do it better. I haven’t poured water into granola since. Hurray for endless possibilities!

I’m so glad you realize that you are quite a strange girl!! Anyway, I may need your services in the near future if I decide to sell my house…hope I get to see you on Sat!!

So many good kitchen organizing ideas! I love this. A woman after my own heart. Here I’m trying to save money and budget but I’m planning a trip to the dollar store. You have inspired me to organize my kitchen even though I should be packing it! LOL!
Melanie says
I do love your wild side Laura; especially since I love to live dangerously too!!!
I do like the second pic better and am coveting those niec deep drawers you have over there…I love it!

One evening I rearranged my bookcases. In the middle of the project my husband came home and saw me in my glory and said – “Stinks to be you” – he was laughing, because he knows how much I really enjoy that kinda stuff…..

I don’t have a drawer for my towels, wash cloths, bibs and hot pads. I have a funky cabinet with a half shelf that those items sit on. I’ve been wanting to get baskets to keep everything organized in but always forget. I’ve got work to do for February!
Twisted Cinderella says
I love it! I change things for the fun of it too.

You are so cute with your basket obsession! I am just the same about purses, bags, pouches… sigh… It’s important to rotate them, right? So nobody feels left out…. 😉
Have a great day!

What fun! My kids think it’s especially fun when I move things around to keep them guessing.

I was looking at your website last night and at about 1am I’m laying in bed thinking about what baskets I have that I can use, buying more baskets, where to start organizing……..lol I love your blog!!! I like organization and used to try so hard but we had to remodel a lot of our house so that equals no where to put stuff and nothing in it’s place. The bedrooms are all done and the new garage is getting organized. I want to start on other parts of the house and you have inspired me!
Thank you!!!

I only have 1 tiny drawer in my kitchen, just big enough for the silverware tray. do u have any ideas to store stuff? I also have no floor cabinet’s: only upper cabinet’s.
