I tried to make this funny but I can’t….

because there is absolutely nothing funny about the insane amount of snow on my front yard. Enough is enough already!!

Anyone living in a hot tropical location want to switch places with me?

Please…..

That’s incredible!! We’ve had a lot of snow and severe cold this year (in southwest Ontario) but nothing like that!! Is that normal or one for the record books??

My mom grew up in Alberta and when she’d had enough - she moved to sunny Arizona. It was 72 F today. I’ll check back in the summer when it’s 115 here and 72 F in Canada! Then I’ll be crying!

Holy Hanna! I’ll stop complaining about the snow in my yard now. Gees! Looks like an avalanche waiting to happen!

You know, the ONLY thing that my kids would see in that hugemongous pile is “WOW, think of the burrows we could make in THAT!”

Not missing the snow terribly now. SHIVER!

    Sending sun from Germany!

Ok, I never thought I’d say that Cleveland Ohio was tropical in February but compared to THAT we are. And we are only 4 degrees here. But we don’t really have much snow. Maybe 3 inches. Um, you can come here but I’m not switching with you.

There will be trouble when it all melts!

I’m sorry, but I’m jealous. I have piles of snow clothes and no snow. Instead we have grey dreary cold day after day with a lot of icy rain mixed in. AND yet again we were supposed to get snow and got none. Pitiful! :) I guess we’ll just have to live vicariously through the snowbound!!!

  23. Posted February 12, 2008 at 1:26 pm | Permalink

Thanks for the perspective- we’ve been complaining about the 7-9″ we’re expecting today. :)

That snow is exactly the reason we moved to south Florida. I love it here. You should consider moving. We average in the 80s in “winter” time. Good luck with all that shoveling!

  26. Posted February 12, 2008 at 2:11 pm | Permalink

LOL! Well that put’s my little backyard mini tobagganing hill to shame. Wow, that is absolutely amazing. Made me shudder to think of all the water if you guys got the chinook and fast melt that can happen around here. You’d have a flood. Hats off to whoever shovelled your driveway!

  27. Posted February 12, 2008 at 2:28 pm | Permalink

Wow, that is some monster snow. Ohh, the months of mud (aka March and April) are going to be crazy at your house!

  28. Posted February 12, 2008 at 3:12 pm | Permalink

Oh WOW Laura, I am speechless, I mean I love snow but that is just ridiculous.

I will gladly switch with you for a bit, or send some of this 70 degree weather up there to melt the snow.

  29. Posted February 12, 2008 at 3:16 pm | Permalink

The only great thing about all this snow is it actually doesn’t ever get that cold here.

However the spring thaw does leave for a horrible mess that is for sure.

come to Texas.. we were in shorts last weekend and flying kites.. although this Friday it’s supposed to be 30*
darn Texas weather changes all the time!!

My kids swingset was half buried. I thought we were getting a lot of snow! WOW!!

We have been having a bit of warming and it is starting to melt. Now we are having flooding with ice at night when it freezes again. What a mess!! Hang on… it’s coming! (Nothing like a bit of encouragement from a friend!) ;-)

hey, I can’t find your email but wanted to ask you if you knew about this:

    http://www.thegrocerygame.com/

I am seriously considering this in hopes that it gets me more organized in this area…

  33. Posted February 12, 2008 at 4:14 pm | Permalink

Wow! The most “snow” I remember was almost a foot and really most of it was ice from a really bad ice storm. Here if we get a few inches it’s a lot. This year we haven’t even gotten a whole inch I don’t think.

  34. Posted February 12, 2008 at 4:37 pm | Permalink

Okay, you’re making me rethink all my complaining about our lack-luster snowfall totals this winter!

  35. Posted February 12, 2008 at 4:44 pm | Permalink

Now I don’t mean to rub it in, but I do live in FL. I lived in MD for most of my life and I DO NOT miss looking out and seeing scenes like that one.

That calls for some MASSIVE cups of Hot Chocolate and a movie marathon.

    Spring will be here soon.

  36. Posted February 12, 2008 at 5:04 pm | Permalink

And it is worse when all the snow stops you from getting your hair done and visiting with a good friend…RIGHT!!

Oh and I know the hair things was more important…I know my place.

  37. Posted February 12, 2008 at 5:08 pm | Permalink

LOL! Oh, I’m so sorry! My kids have been out riding their bikes for the last three days in a row, enjoying a warm spell. But hey, I live in Texas and you live in Canada. We’d probably freak out if Texas suddenly had snow up to the rooftops and Canada suddenly had 70 degree sunny days, don’t you think? :)

  38. Posted February 12, 2008 at 5:11 pm | Permalink

Wow! I’ve never seen snow like that. We just got hit by an ice storm here in southwest Missouri (I’m home on a snow because of it), and I was complaining about that. I have no reason to complain. My pictures aren’t as impressive as yours, but my son posted some ice pics on his blog. http://cmmatzat.learnerblogs.org/2008/02/11/ice-storm-08/

Enjoy, and try to stay warm.

That looks awesome! We would be having such a blast playing in that. The two feet we have on the ground is now frozen solid and it is just too cold to go out anyway!

  43. Posted February 12, 2008 at 7:05 pm | Permalink

Hi Laura - WOW THAT IS A LOT OF SNOW! I’d switch, for a day or two. Spring is on it’s way here … and, do you live in a log home? COOL!

  44. Posted February 12, 2008 at 7:30 pm | Permalink

That’s what I THOUGHT we’d look like when we moved to Ukraine…but NOTHING like that at all. I do love snow (for a season), but the only way I could survive your neck of the woods would be with a fireplace, lots of logs, and maybe some mulled wine!

Wow! Your snow trumps mine! we had 58 inches in January, which is a record for us, but never was it up over my car!

  46. Posted February 12, 2008 at 8:06 pm | Permalink

Somehow I almost feel bad about complaining about the snow/rain/sleet mix we’re having today…almost! WOW!

  47. Posted February 12, 2008 at 8:07 pm | Permalink

So I think it’s safe to say that most of us (me included) are READY TO BE DONE WITH WINTER! Although a pleasant change from warm summer days, an occasional brisk snowy day is quite nice… but Laura… this is taking it a bit too far.

OMG! To say that “that’s a lot of snow” is an understatement! My sympathies go out to you!

  48. Posted February 12, 2008 at 9:04 pm | Permalink

Hey - we had a swing set like that when I was a kid living in Presque Isle, Maine. People always look at me funny when I tell them we use to sit on the top… LOL Now I know I wasn’t dreaming it.

We just moved this past December to Pennsylvania - just west of Philly and we haven’t had much in the way of snow here - although we are getting a bit of snow, sleet, and freezing rain as I speak.

I’ll be wishing you some sunshine… everything is a bit easier to take when the sun shines!

    Laura,

I feel your pain! I’ve lived in New England my entire life & this has GOT to be one of the worst winters we’ve seen in a long time! (as a matter of fact, we’re getting MORE snow/sleet/freezing rain tonight!)

  56. Posted February 13, 2008 at 4:46 am | Permalink

Wow. That’s all I can say. Wow.

So, I’m guessing the bikinis that Target has on display aren’t going to do you a lot of good for a while?

    Wow.

I’ve seen a few blogs lately that had so much snow, my first thought was, ‘where on earth do they live?’ and it’s almost always Canada. Did the same thing with you - how did I miss that before, I love Canadians! And you’re right, that’s just too much snow - good grief. We’ve had snow for the past week, it’s predicted for the next several days and I just keep telling myself, spring is coming, spring is coming, spring is coming!

  58. Posted February 13, 2008 at 2:05 pm | Permalink

Nope, nothing funny about that at all. We had a slight flurry today and they closed schools. I couldn’t imagine that much snow.

  59. Posted February 13, 2008 at 2:42 pm | Permalink

Wow! I have never seen that much snow! I don’t know what I would do!

We go to a place in Manitoba every once in a while (our honeymoon and 5 year anniversary) in the summer, but have talk about going back in the winter next time. They talk about snow, but I don’t think it would be that much as they are not so far north.

You said it does not get that cold where you are. How cold does it normally get? It is 7 degrees F here in Missouri this morning.

  60. Posted February 13, 2008 at 4:32 pm | Permalink

Holy igloo, Batman. That’s amazing. I will not tell you about our weather. Because that would be cruel.

I’d say -7 C is a really cold day for us around here. I’m not too sure how many inches that is but it’s definitely more than 10 feet!
