Most of you know that I use my slow cooker a lot because it is just so easy and I’m all about easy when it comes to the kitchen. Yesterday I tried a new recipe out and it turned out really well so I’m going to share it with you because I’m just nice like that ;>)
Slow-Cooked Pork Loin
1 boneless whole pork loin roast (3.5 to 4 lbs)
1 tbsp canola oil
1 medium onion, chopped
1 celery rib, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 envelope brown gravy mix
1 cup water
1 cup unsweetened apple juice
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 tsps Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp seasoned salt
1/2 tsp pepper
Cut roast in half. In a large skillet, brown roast in oil on all sides. Transfer to a 5-qt slow cooker. In the same skillet, saute onion and celery until tender; add to slow cooker.
In a small bowl, combine gravy mix and water. Stir in the remaining ingredients; pour over pork. Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours or until a meat thermometer reads 160 degrees and meat is tender. Skim fat from cooking juices; serve with roast.
My notes: okay so I’m way to lazy to brown my meat beforehand so I skipped this step and it still turned out nicely and no one was the wiser…shhhh it will be our secret.

Yes, you are nice like that, thank you!
I won’t tell anyone that you didn’t brown the meat! This sounds like a yummy recipe for pork roast.

Sounds yummy.
Oh Laura, this sounds wonderful! (And I’m glad you ‘fessed up. I probably would have skipped trying this one if I thought I “had” to brown it first!)
Scout’s honor. Won’t tell a soul. Sounds yummy with that applesauce.
I often skip that step too, and have never had a problem because of it. This looks really good. Thanks for sharing.
This sounds wonderful! Thanks for sharing. I can’t wait to try it out.
Oh it sounds soooo good, you know I always skip the browning first part too LOL
ymmmmm sounds “delish” :)
YUMMO! I love slow-cooker foods. Especially roasts when the weather is crisp and cool outside. Hope you and the family enjoyed it.
I never brown meat before it goes in the crockpot either! I figure once I scrub the extra pan and degrease the range hood and stove, there goes the time saved by using the crockpot! This recipe sounds great, and I have all the ingredients on hand–it’s what’s for dinner at my house tonight! Thanks!
This looks good. Thanks for sharing!
