Especially when one forgets their food allergic son’s packed food (for the 7 hour plane trip) in the fridge at home!!! Oh yes I did. I realized on the first plane that I’d forgotten it and surprisingly stayed amazingly calm considering I knew we’d have no time between connections (we were running) to grab anything and that there is nothing that could be purchased on the plane that didn’t contain at least one of his allergens. When we got onto the second plane I calmly (although I’m pretty sure I was twitching slightly) explained to the Flight Attendant my dilemma and asked if there was any possibility that they would have Lays Plain Potato Chips on board (one of the only mainstream packaged products he can eat). No such luck. Yikes! One of the other Flight Attendants overheard and offered an apple from her own lunch. Bless her heart. So this was good, my son had an apple to go along with the few rice cakes in his backpack that he had packed himself. He’d be hungry but he wouldn’t be starving.
Wouldn’t you know not even 10 minutes later the 1st Flight Attendant came over to us with not one but two bags of Lays Chips that she had quickly run out and purchased for us just before the plane was about to take off. She wouldn’t even let me pay her back for them. I was overwhelmed by this generosity and God’s provision. What an incredible act of kindness for my kids to witness.
So no I may not be receiving the Mother of the Year award anytime soon but thankfully God has angels working for him all over the place to bail me out just when I needed it the most.
While on vacation I’ll be in and out of Blogland. I’ll still post here and there but only when I can fit it in amongst sun bathing and stuffing myself of all this delicious home cooking! Definitely I’ll be posting this week about the terrific garage sale find I snatched up before I left that became the new home to the kids crafts supplies….so exciting!!

What a wonderful story. That was so sweet of the flight attendants. God was watching over you guys!

I really appreciate those flight attendants who go above and beyond. You should call the airline company and give her a good report. 🙂 God has a way of providing. Now if He would just get my labor going. LOL

That is so awesome!! What airline was it? You should publicize it just cause they did so good! That is great to hear these days with some crazy airline stories out there.
I am loving your web site. Found you after the Dog Days of Summer giveaway!
Thanks
Dana

The kindness of strangers. How wonderful. And what a message for your kids. Being GF myself (not all the allergies your son deals with) I understand the dilema of trying to find food one can find when out and about.
Have a wonderful visit.

How wonderful. I love it when God shows provisions such as those. It’s the little things at times that mean so much!

WOW! How wonderful!! If that happened to me I would be writing a note to the airlines with the flight details telling them this story! Those gals deserve some recognition for a job that went above and beyond!! What a blessing!
Enjoy your trip! Rest, relax and refresh!

After seeing “Evan Almighty” Sunday evening, there has been something that keeps popping up at me through different stories…
“One act of random kindness can have a giant ripple effect”
I’m glad one of the ripples hit you!

The kindness of strangers gives us all hope in this crazy world! I would definitely write to the airline and let them know of their wonderful employees. Everyone shares bad news, but we need to recognize the good more often.

Enjoy your trip. What a great story about God’s provision, using a flight attendant “angel”. Thanks for sharing. And…You’re not expected to be perfect, Laura. Only One was, so we could depend on Him. 🙂 Of course I have to keep reminding myself of that….
HUGS!

I hope you will send a letter to the airline letting them know how great these women were to you. In an age when so many people aren’t doing their job, it is good to know there are some out there who still care.
Org Junkie says
Yes I will definitely be sending a letter to Air Canada to let them know how thankful I am 🙂

I was going to add a *please* send a note to the airline. The flight crew will likely get a bonus or a special flight pass if you commend them by name and it would mean so much to them. I am so glad it worked out for you!

You know, sometimes it’s nice to be in need to be reminded how kind and generous people are. That’s really great.
Good work on your new games chest!

I love it! You are a great mom for all the reasons I just read in your comments… We can’t be perfect otherwise we wouldn’t have opportunities like this for others to show their kindness.
Have a great trip… enjoy the garage sales!!! 🙂

It just makes my whole day to read about that sweet attendant’s kindness to your son.
It also makes me smile to hear how excited you are about that new cabinet for your craft supplies. Only you would get THAT excited about it although I’m confessing it would come in awfully handy at my house too! 🙂
