Slow Cooking Thursday ~ Sweet ‘n’ Sour Pork Chops

by Laura on May 24, 2007

This recipe turned out really nice but be careful not to overcook the meat. Overcooked slow cooked food is yuck.

Sweet ‘n’ Sour Pork Chops

Prep: 5 min. Cook: 4 1/4 hours

1 can (8 oz) crushed pineapple, undrained

1 cup honey barbeque sauce

1/3 cup finely chopped onion

2 tbsp chili sauce

4 bone-in pork loin chops (3/4 inch thick and 8 oz each)

In a small bowl, combine the pineapple, barbeque sauce, onion and chili sauce. Pour half into a greased 3-qt. slow cooker. Top with pork chops and remaining sauce. Cover and cook on low for 4 1/4 to 5 1/4 hours or until meat is tender.

Yield: 4 servings

Laura, sounds great. You are right, there is a point of no return with slowcooker cooking. I like things well done, but have learned to be careful to turn mine to warm when it is done.

I almost always omit the onions, I’m not a fan either. Still tastes great!

These are great! My family love them. I also have baked them and using boneless chops.
