Low-Fat Chocolate Chip Cookies!

It’s the healthy eating edition of Works for Me Wednesday and my printer is fired up and ready to go! I can hardly wait to go check out all the great low fat healthy recipes I’m sure to find over at Rocks In My Dryer.

My recipe is for delicious low fat Chocolate Chip cookies! Yum…with the addition of whole wheat flour and applesauce these cookies are as good for the tastebuds as they are for the waistline. The trick of course is not to eat the whole batch!

Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups whole-wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup reduced-calorie stick margarine - softened
2/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup applesauce
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 large egg white
1/2 cup reduced fat semisweet chocolate chips (although I’ve never been able to find the reduced fat kind myself)
Cooking spray

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Combine first 4 ingredients in a bowl; stir well. Set aside. Combine margarine and sugars in a large bowl; beat at medium speed of a mixer until light and fluffy. Add applesauce, vanilla, egg and egg white; beat well. Add dry ingredients; beat at low speed until well-blended. Stir in chips. Drop dough by level teaspoons, 1 inch apart, onto baking sheets coated with cooking spray. Bake for 12 minutes or until almost set. Remove from oven; let stand 2 to 3 minutes or until firm. Remove cookies from pans; let cool on wire racks.

Can I kiss your feet? Cookies are my weakness!!

I think low fat chocolate chips, means use less. As in take out 4 chips. That makes it lower in fat content, right?

I am so excited to try these. I knew about using applesauce, but I never knew how much to use!

    Thanks a million!

Sounds wonderful……I cheat…I buy cookie dough from the local cheerleading association in September every year…..alot of dough…so I have enough to get me through the winter…and you can freeze it….plop it out and cook for 10 minutes….

Those look great! If my kids would eat chocolate, I would try that out. I’ll have to look for an excuse to back them.

I made these today and they turned out great! I only told my husband I was trying a new recipe, but not that it was more healthy. When he tried them, he said, “They’re good. They taste like maybe you used a different ingredient than normal, but they’re good.”

Sounds yummy! My house would be your dream as it could probably keep you busy organizing for a very long time! I used to be very organized too, not sure what happened. Must have been a virtual hurricane! LOL

These sound really interesting–can’t wait to try them. Just wondering if you know how much fiber is in them? I do WW and that is one of the things you need to calculate the points. Thanks for posting.

Here’s where I get tripped up. This sounds like a delicious recipe. But the serving size is ONE cookie. I don’t think I’ve ever been able to eat just ONE cookie. Well, except for those GIANT cookies that you can get at the mall. But that doesn’t count. Sigh.

Jen ~ unfortunately the recipe doesn’t say anything about fiber, sorry.

Dee Dee ~ I’m that way with potato chips, can never eat just one!!
