Kids love crafts! So it’s no wonder that most households have a ton of craft supplies needing a storage solution. Here is one idea I came up with for a friend:
We used clear plastic shoeboxes to organize the various craft supplies and labelled them accordingly…..beads, crayons, stickers, ribbon…etc. Now her daughter can see exactly what she is looking for and clean up is easy because everything has a home. The plastic shoeboxes are very inexpensive…I believe we purchased them five for $4.00. I don’t know about you but there is something so beautiful about the shoe boxes all stacked up like that. I just love it!

I love it 🙂
Any suggestions on doing something similar that my pesky 1 1/2 year old can’t get into. She’s very clever and is always managing to get into what we don’t want her to get into. 😉

Hi Robyn, I hear you on that one, I have an almost 1 year old! What I would suggest is a similar cabinet with doors and then a child safety lock or two!!!! 🙂

I love this idea! I was just thinking earlier that I need a “solution” for my scrapbook/craft stuff. What kind of shelf is this one?

Hi Judi! This is just a bookshelf painted red although it is a little deeper than a regular bookcase but I think any bookshelf should do the trick. Laura

I also love this idea. It provides the kids the ability to get to their supplies while keeping everything in place.

That’s great. You should see my organizer. It consists of every art supply known to man thrown in a few drawers. I guess I should use your idea.

Great idea. I am going to get some of those plastic shoe boxes. I do day care in my home and this would work really well for the kids.
Thanks for sharing your ideas.

That looks great! What a great solution! I should do something similar in my sewing room!

I love the bright red cupboard they all sit in too! I need to go get the see thru shoeboxes. Right now everything is just a mishmash of different shapes and sizes non see thru. Yours looks so nice!

You are brilliant! When my little ones are older, I’ll have to remember this!

I also love the shoe boxes lined up like that. I organize and maintain two supply closets at church. I tried various ways or organzing craft supplies and finally bought the shoeboxes. So simple yet it looks very impressive.

Ok, I am SO NOT an organizational girl but I gotta admit that looks amazing! I will definitely be borrowing that idea…

How cute! And clever. I use clear plastic shoeboxes to organize my photos. Have you ever heard of Organized Living? I don’t know if you have that store in Canada but before Rob and I relocated to the western part of Colorado, I went there all the time. Found my shoeboxes there.
I’d love to see you turned loose in that store, Laura. You’d be their dream customer. You never so saw many ways to organized in your life as that store offers. You might want to go on line and find them. Really, you should because this store was created for people like you and me! 🙂

That is a beautiful sight! I’ve got a 1 year old too. Not only does she get her little hands into everything she sees but she will grab crayons and scribble on the kid’s drawings while they’re working on them! Sadly, they don’t do crafts like they used to. Maybe when she’ll older they will pick it up again. Baby sisters are so annoying!

Now that is my kind of organizing. I love it. Good job! And look, Laura, I can post comments now!

Very tidy! Nice job! May I offer you another organizing idea? It was a brainstorm that I’m still excited about (hopefully not overly) “How to Make Custom Containers” from parting and reversing cardboard boxes – http://www.howtome.com/?p=42 – Enjoy and thank you for sharing your post with me.
