Creating a tea station

Well last night I went to Hawaii……okay not really…..but I did get to do something exciting just not with the hot weather, beach, sand or orchids. What I got to do is help a friend organize her kitchen!!!!! Doesn’t that sound like the BEST way to spend a Wednesday evening? It took us about three hours and it looked so good when we were finished! First I tried to get an understanding of how she uses her space and what is important to her and quickly discovered that she LOVES her tea…no REALLY loves her tea! So priority #1 was to create a tea station for her. Using baskets she already owned we consolidated all the tea together and placed it along with all her flavorings and sprinkles in one area near her sink alongside her tea kettle. I think this will work very well for her. We then moved on to her food cupboards. Best plan…we emptied the desired space and sorted like items with like to see what we were working with and then arranged it back in the cupboards with most frequently used items on the first shelf readily accessible! Gosh aren’t you just getting giddy with excitement just reading this. Last but not least were the drawers…..empty, consolidate and PURGE…she did well. I think we were able to get five drawers of kitchen gizmos down to two!!

Here is a picture of that beautiful tea station I was talking about:

Have you made your list of areas you want to organize? I know Kim at Warpie has. Do you have plans to organize something today? I’d love to hear about it.

Today for me isn’t about organizing so much as it is about babyproofing. My eight month old son just started crawling and is getting faster by the day!

Have a happy day everyone!

Sure could use a friend like you in my neck of the woods. We are going to be listing our house on the market soon and I am not very organized. I need to do some serious decluttering and then get organized. I would be either your worst nightmare or a really enjoyable trip to Hawaii for you, depending on how you look at it. :) I do stop by your site often for some inspiration!!

Can I fly you to Toronto to do my rooms, you’d be in heaven of organization for at least a week!

I’d love a solution for pots and pans without a major renovation. I don’t have a lot of cupboard space in my kitchen but it’s a pain to get to some of the items I use on a biweekly basis. Daily isn’t so bad, it’s just lower than I’d like as it’s under the sink and I’m 5’10″ long way to reach down for something.

Maybe I should just use my 2 weeks of vacation next month to purge and reorganize :) Oh wouldn’t hubby be scared, he doesn’t like change and organization, and he does not purge at all.

That looks great! It is so nice to get stuff cleaned out…makes you feel good!

I have a friend who her job is a professional organizer. She is hired by people who have problems getting their stuff organized and I believe some of her clients are ocd. You sound like you would be awesome at a job like that!! It seems like you genuinely love to help people and you also have a gift for organization! I think so many of us bloggers have been truly inspired to do things we probably wouldn’t have done if we hadn’t read your blog!

She’s going to be thankful to you each time she has a cup of tea. It’s so much easier when things used together are kept together, isn’t it?

My cupboards are very organized, suprisingly enough. I have a little tea caddy that I picked up that I pull out and refill with tea.
But…I was going to take a picture of that space in our dining room. It’s a neat storage area and Scott keeps his bikes there. I don’t know if the space could be used better…would shelves work in there??? I don’t need a pantry cuz I have a huge one in the kitchen.
Anyways I’ll post a pic tonight or tomorrow and would love some suggestions!!
Thursdays should be “Ask Laura” days!!!
Have a great day!!

Hey Jenny, I would love to offer you some suggestions. I can’t wait to see the pics. Can’t imagine a space big enough for bikes in a dining room…wow it sounds great. Till then…

Thanks for commenting over on my blog. Yeah, it was great getting that extra savings at CVS. And tonight at target…a CD I bought was on sale and I didn’t know it. So I saved (over and above expected savings) about $5 today!
