Works for me Wednesday – Door Ironing Board

by Laura on August 2, 2006

in Organizing Solutions,WFMW

Is it Wednesday again already?! Where is the time going? Today I want to tell you about one of the best space and time saving items I’ve found yet…..my ironing board. Not just any ironing board….my over the door ironing board! I hated having to store my old ugly ironing board in my bedroom but that is where I used it (my laundry room is located in the basement two floors down, remember lazy bones here) yet I just didn’t have anywhere to keep it. This completely solves the problem. I’ve hung it on the door to my dressing room and it works beautifully! For a huge list of participants, visit Shannon at Rocks in my Dryer!

That’s awesome…I’ve always wanted to get one of those, I just haven’t done it. I have one of those little portable ones that I put on my vanity chair if I absolutely have to iron something.

Very handy. I don’t iron…unless absolutely necessary. I know, bad!!
Speaking of ironing, I was ironing 2 days ago (one shirt I wanted to wear) and when I was finished I went to pull out the plug from the wall…..all of a sudden there were SPARKS, and a huge zap!! and smoke. The plug had pulled away from the connectors and I’m sad to report the iron is history.
Scott asked me how old the iron was and I weeped..”35 years old!”
It was my mom’s a wedding present!!!
GE makes good products apparently!!!
Have a good day!
Sorry the comment is so long!

Oh man I would LOVE LOVE LOVE one of those! Gunther (DH) would never let me have it though.. he’s a stickler for things hitting the door frame.. GRRRR that’s what I get for marrying and engineer huh?

Still.. LOVE IT… (and maybe if you tell me that it doesn’t hit the door frame he’ll get me one???)

Cheers!

I have to admit something…..I DON’T iron!!!! ***GASP**** My mother thought my blue jeans needed to be iorned as a teen and I suppose I’m rebelling! LOL! And my poor sweet husband wears a dress shirt and tie to work EVERY DAY!!! He’s always a little wrinkled…..Maybe if I had one of THOSE I would be better.

I am so blessed to have found this sight this week. Perhaps I’ve been spending too much time on the computer and not enough doing what i’m suppose to do….LOL! I look forward to your meal plan mondays and am looking forward to learning some of your fabulous organizing techniques….remember…..i’m an organizing junkie wanna be!!!!

Blessings…..

Those are very nice boards. I’ve wanted one for awhile too, I just don’t have a door to put it on!

I love that and wish I would have saw this post before I went to Walmart today! I had nowhere to hide my ironing board before but saw this really neat hook thing for ironing boards when I was at Walmart. Problem is, I cannot put it where my ironing board has been since we moved into our house because I cannot put anything into the walls. This left the only place to hang this up to be in our laundry room which will be convenient if I iron right there in that room, but inconvenient if I have to iron anything that is already 2 floors away!

Yes well, the small price you pay to have a more organized house! I really like this idea and may end up getting a second iron- keeping one in the laundry room and one upstairs in our bedroom! Now who’s the lazy bones ;~)

Thanks for visiting my blog… I will have to figure out some of the things I need help with when it comes to organization. The only one I can come up with off the top of my head is about getting away from being a pack-rat. I definitely think I need to keep everything (within reason- my house looks nowehere near some of the houses on “Clean Sweep”), and sometimes even think I need to keep things out and accessible therefore cluttering counterspace, tables, TV centers. Maybe this gives you an idea for next Wednesday?!

That is the best kind of ironing board! Actually the best kind of ironing board would be one that DID the ironing for you, but this is a good one because dragging out an ironing board is a pain!

So, are these ironing boards strong and steady? I hate it when the ironing board jiggles around, and it’s hard on irons, too!

Yes it is a bit jiggly and it drives me crazy but I just added some velco to attach it securely to the door and it works great. Laura
