Works for me Wednesday – Art Centre

I don’t like a lot of clutter but with three kids in the house I do have to make some compromises. I’ve set up an art centre in my dining room because I was finding that without it all the art supplies would just be left on the dining room table. This way when the kids are finished with their workbooks or coloring they can put them away on the shelf until the next time. I get to keep my dining room table cleared off yet they still have easy access. At one time I did try to keep all the art supplies downstairs in the basement but it never caught on with the kids because they like to do their projects where I am. So usually this is what they do while I’m cooking dinner or baking in the kitchen. Here is a picture of it.

Yes my kids are pretty good about putting their stuff back. I still have to occassionally remind them but for the most part they will remember. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for visiting! I would love to be clutter free at the moment. A new passion. Yet organizing has never been a strong point…ever! Thankfully I have some great friends that are a big help.

This is a wonderful idea! I had one of those 3 drawer plastic dresser sets that my children used for a while, but it drew too much attention to the twins :o( I do look forward to them growing up a bit as things can be so much more organized and more readily accessed! For now the drawer set hides in my oldest daughter’s room ;o)

Thanks for sharing!

That looks really nice, and easy for the kids to get to what they need! Great tip!

I wish I could organize like you. I am totally ADHD and my house reflects this. It is pretty neat, but not real organized. Anyone looking at my library of 500 unorganized books would know what I am talking about.

Looks great! When my little ones are more responsible with markers, etc. I will do this, too, but for now, everything is tucked away for supervised use only!

Good idea. I have a corner in my kitchen (the preferred art studio is the kitchen table, and the walls. I mentioned that in another comment, thank goodness for magic erasers!) that would be good for something like that. I even have a small bookshelf I could use too! Now I won’t be able to sleep until I get it done!

It would be so awesome if my kids were old enough to manage anything like this. My youngest is 21 mo and still eats crayons & the like. I have to keep all craft materials, crayons, coloring books, etc. in the closet w/ my vacuum, with a baby lock on the doorknob, & this system is NOT working for me.

I know this is an old post–I linked to it from one of your recent ones. I love the pencil caddy and the 5 drawer thing! These are the perfect solution for my children’s supplies, and I would like to purchase some. I looked at Walmart and Bed, Bath, and Beyond today, and was unable to find these. Do you remember where you got them, or what the caddy is called for online searches? Thanks for your time!
