Hey, I just discovered your blog the other day. I totally believe that is true. I just reorganized my kids' room and today (almost a week later), my 7 year old comes to me and says, "Mom, what happened to our room? There's stuff everywhere." He couldn't rest until it was all picked up. Maybe I've converted him, but I think it's too early yet to tell.

I agree! My oldest is 3 1/2; so I may be in for a shock (mess) later, but right now there's no clutter in there. He seems to sleep better with it tidy too, and even puts his big toy away to let us know he is READY to sleep. :) It is easy b/c we don't play in bedrooms except for bedtime and naptime. So it doesn't get very messed up other than books, a couple animals, and 1 little people farm that we clean up right before each snooze. :)

I am my own worse enemy... I can't just tidy it I have to tear it all apart re invent a space I think would work chuck out stuff and then put it back together .....problem never gets done in one day!!! When Kali is old enough she will be learning to keep a handle on her stuff too. If she is like me she rearrange her room and clean it constantly!!!

You know what? I think you're right. My daughter seems to do much better when her room is neat and tidy. Right now it's starting to get out of hand again, so I might just go tackle it tonight.

Good luck with your daughter's room, hope you'll be posting pictures :)

My mom used to tell me that my bedroom was going to give me nightmares. Well she was wrong until I got into my thirties. The nightmares were always that the house was a mess and the worst possible person that you would want to be exposed to would show up to stay.
Messy surroundings do seem to affect how clearly we can think. Any ADHDer can tell you that.

I agree with you 100%!!!! When my house is cluttered I feel much more anxious in general than when my house is clean and clutter free. I love Christmas time and decorating for it and other holidays, but the extra "stuff" out everywhere makes me very anxious and I usually can't wait to get it all down and put away. It's funny how that works...good luck with your daughter's room!!
